Estate Sale Find

Welcome, everyone, to the blog today! I’m so happy you decided to stop by. If you’re a frequent visitor, welcome back! If you’re here for the first time, I hope you enjoy your visit and come again soon.
Lately, it’s been “feast or famine” when it comes to estate sales in the area. Last week, there was absolutely nothing, but this week, I managed to visit six or seven different sales. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my purchases with you. There were some really great finds, and today, I’m starting with one of the best from the estate sales.
Crystal has a certain allure, and I absolutely love finding wonderful pieces to add to my collection. Today, my husband and I decided to check out an estate sale that had been put together in just two days with everything needing to be sold quickly. The pictures online weren’t very clear, but we thought it would be fun to venture out anyway.
When we arrived, it was a bit chaotic, and not many items were priced, but that just added to the excitement! We made our way to the dining room, where some beautiful crystal was housed in a wooden hutch. The pieces were quite dirty, but some looked like they might be real treasures.
The picture above shows a brandy glass by Wedgewood in the Dynasty pattern. You can see the sticker on the glass and the glasses are also inscribed with the Wedgewood name on the base. After looking it up on-line we realized that these glasses sold for $140 each. They had four of them in excellent condition apart from the dirt.

Here you can see the four glasses after they have been washed. They really sparkle. I was trying to get a close-up but they got just a bit blurry. Still, you can see the beautiful cut of the glass. They’re also quite heavy and feel wonderful nestled in your hand.

I’ve displayed them here on a Victorian-style tray that I also thrifted. The crystal really reflects the light beautifully. Imagine these glasses filled with a bit of brandy, the warmth of the liquor spreading through your hands as you hold the glass. Add a fire in the fireplace, and you have the perfect setting for a restful evening.

The glasses are really lovely and we will be keeping them. The very nice lady running the sale came over to give us a price. We had a few other crystal pieces that I’ll share another time. These beautiful brandy glasses were going for an astounding price. She looked at me and I must have looked like I didn’t like the price so she lowered it. An astonishing price became an unbelievable price and we quickly agreed to the purchase. We also acquired a few more items before leaving the sale and heading to the next site.
Estate sales have generally higher prices than thrift stores but this one had exceptionally low prices. They must have needed to clear the house in record time. Thanks so much for joining me here today. It’s such a pleasure when you join me on the Blog. I’ll be sharing more of the estate sale finds in the next few weeks. Until then Happy Thrifting!

These are very pretty and I’d love to know what you paid for them…and perhaps a photo of your expression that brought the price even lower!
The expression would be priceless, Teddee. I’m not sharing the price on these as they will probably be a gift but it was an incredible price. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

These are beautiful! I’ve never seen brandy snifters with such great detail. Can’t wait to see what else you picked up. XO- MaryJo
Thanks, MaryJo, they really are lovely. I don’t often find brandy snifters even at estate sales those these were a special find. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Those glasses are stunning! They remind me of old glass windows with the wavery windows, but that might just be my monitor. I can’t imagine paying $140 for one glass! Lucky you!

Thanks, Marsha, I would never pay that much for a glass. This was such a nice find and I didn’t mind the price at all. Now I have them to pass down or give as a gift to a family member. Thanks for visiting and have a lovely week.

Ooooh, Lynne! Love those types of sales. Right before we moved I picked up a dozen Athlone ice tea glasses by Tiffin Franciscan for an unbelievable price at a professional moving sale! I have 2 sets of Waterford brandy snifters that I’ve thrifted. Great purchase for you!!!
Someday I have to come thrifting in your area. You have some great finds. Thrifters are treasure hunting, recycling, money saving adventurers…and we have a lot of fun. Have a great week continuing to settle in to your new home.
