Simple Thrifted Halloween Entranceway

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends.

The first big holiday of the fall season is just a few weeks away, and the holidays seem to follow one another so quickly—first Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and finally Christmas. Before we know it, we’re moving from one holiday to the next! To start off the season with not much fuss and an easy transition into Halloween, I’ve used some inexpensive thrifted finds I’ve collected over the last few years. I always try to shop my home first before I run out to the store, and for Halloween I was able to use only things I had already thrifted and tucked away in my stash.

You can see from the picture above that I have a rather large porcelain pumpkin that I painted white last year. He is such a happy fellow, with a big smile that makes him much more friendly than frightening. He sits at one end of the hunt board in my entranceway and, when lit from within, helps to light the way for our Halloween guests. I think he makes a wonderful first introduction to the holiday—just a little spooky, a little whimsical, and definitely ready to celebrate!

The first pumpkin is joined by two others to make a happy grouping of three pumpkins that spans the length of the hunt board. All three have such cheerful dispositions that they look more than ready for their important job of welcoming visitors to our home. There isn’t anything too scary about this little trio—they seem much more interested in greeting our guests and enjoying the holiday!

The pumpkins are elevated on a simple board that sits on a black and white runner. The runner has seasonal Halloween motifs at each end, adding just the right touch of holiday spirit without overwhelming the display. Together, the pumpkins and runner create a fun Halloween welcome that is festive, friendly, and just a little bit spooky.

As you enter through the doorway, you see a seasonal floral arrangement suspended inside a brass lantern. The colors definitely speak to the season, bringing warm autumnal tones into the hallway and creating a lovely transition into the Halloween display.

The brass lantern adds a bit of warmth and glow, while the flowers bring in the rich colors of fall. The oriental carpet in deep reds works beautifully with the other colors in the hallway and helps tie the arrangement into the existing décor. I love how a few seasonal touches can change the feeling of a space without having to completely redecorate it for the holiday.

The big grins on the faces of these happy pumpkins help to light the wonderful Halloween print hanging from the antique mirror behind the hunt board. Their warm glow makes the print stand out and adds another little bit of Halloween magic to the entranceway.

The framed print was another great thrift store find from several months ago. The moment I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for the entranceway and would make a wonderful way to greet our guests for the holiday. I love finding a piece like this when I’m not even specifically looking for it. Sometimes the best thrifted treasures seem to find their way home with you, and this one certainly found its perfect spot!

Here’s a closer look at a section of the print. I think this one was definitely worth saving! Isn’t it fun? It adds just the right bit of Halloween whimsy to the entranceway and gives our happy pumpkins something festive to light up. It’s another reminder that you never know what little treasures you might find when you take the time to browse your local thrift store.

Just a few simple elements came together to create a striking visual statement and a fun introduction to Halloween. The best part? I didn’t have to buy a thing! Everything was already in my stash, and it took just moments to put the display together in the hallway.

When it’s time to transition to Thanksgiving, it will be just as easy to take down the Halloween pieces and add a few things that speak to the next holiday. I love decorating this way because the holidays don’t have to mean starting from scratch. A few thoughtful changes can give a familiar space an entirely new feeling.

Decorating should be easy and fun, and it shouldn’t take a lot of time away from your busy schedule. Sometimes the simplest displays are the ones that make the biggest impression.

Thanks so much for joining me here today as we turned the front entranceway into a cheerful little introduction to Halloween. I hope it gives you some inspiration to shop your own home, pull out a few favorite treasures, and have a little fun with the season. Happy Halloween decorating, Friends!
