Welcome to the Blog today. Don’t you just love Spring in all its colorful, light-filled places. I’m looking forward to an exciting week of local events shared with friends and family. Thursday marks the first flower festival in our area at the local State Farmer’s Market. There will be growers from all over the Upstate bringing plants for purchase by local gardeners. That takes place starting on Thursday and we’re going with some Friends which always makes it even more fun.

Saturday is going to be a treat with the “Pop-up” market! Picture this: vendors galore, their stalls bursting with treasures, set against the charming backdrop of the Vintage Market. It’s a shopper’s paradise, and I always find myself drawn to the most irresistible goodies. The best part? Local food trucks will be there too, serving up delicious treats to fuel our shopping adventures. Who knows what delightful discoveries await? One thing’s for sure, I’ll be leaving with a big smile and maybe a few too many purchases!

Today’s Blog is a combination of a few linens from a recent Estate Sale and a sunny Spring table setting. Can’t wait to have you explore this setting with me.

The picture above shows the view we have of the garden when sitting at the table in the Morning Room. It never ceases to be fascinating. The birds come and go at the feeders and the garden changes according to the seasons. Squirrels and chipmunks forage for seeds, butterflies visit the blooms and soon Humming Birds will be flitting about the garden from flower to flower. The Blue Birds are nesting and we should be seeing little ones soon. It is so comical to watch the adult birds teaching the babies to forage for food at the feeders. Mother Nature is a “wonderment”.

I stumbled upon a treasure trove of tablecloths at an Estate Sale last weekend, and let me tell you, I felt like I hit the jackpot! These aren’t your run-of-the-mill linens—they’re the kind that add a sprinkle of magic to your dining experience. Today, I’m unveiling the first gem, and boy, does it set the stage for a delightful meal. The second one, with its intricate embroidery, is like a work of art for the table. And just wait until you see the third item, the spring/summer tablecloth! It’s so pretty, it’ll have you dreaming of picnics and garden parties. And the best part? They were all just $4 each! Now that’s what I call a steal!

I began the table setting with the beautiful tablecloth and then added some round placemats in yellow to define the space for each setting. The textured quality of these mats added to the casual feel of the table.

The plate stack was pretty simple starting with a white, porcelain charger followed by a pretty yellow octagonal plate. Then I used Herbal salad/dessert plates that have a lovely yellow border with flowering herbs floating around the edge. That completed this simple stack. You can also see the flatware that I chose for this setting. It’s new to me and came from several different sources until I had a complete set of four place settings with some extras. The flatware is stainless steel from Pier 1 and it is stunning. The twig flatware rests on a white, cotton napkin edged with lace. It adds a bit of a retro feel to the table.

Completing the setting are crystal water and wine glasses. The pattern is “King Edward” by Gorham. It is a recent Estate Sale find and I absolutely love how they look on the table.

To complete the table setting, I went out to the garden and picked a bunch of fresh flowers. I arranged them in a big canning jar, keeping it simple and cozy. There’s something so comforting about a mixed bouquet in a humble jar—it’s like bringing a piece of the garden right to the table. The flowers I chose—Irises, Snowballs, Lamb’s Ears, and Japanese Irises—add a touch of nature’s beauty to our home. Gathering these flowers always feels like a little gift from the garden, a reminder of the simple joys of home.

I hope the table setting feels like a cozy, welcoming haven, inviting you to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Each piece of china, chosen for its charm and character, adds to the warmth of the setting. The mix of patterns and colors creates a relaxed, homely atmosphere, reminiscent of a gathering at a dear friend’s house. The flowers, lovingly arranged in a simple jar, add a touch of nature’s beauty to the scene. It’s a setting that evokes feelings of comfort, belonging, and the simple joys of home. You are so welcome at this table!

  1. The yellow rose tablecloth reminds me fondly of a pattern of dishes from my childhood, the 1960’s. I am guessing it is from the mid to late 50’s, I remember a framed print with the same yellow roses also. Must have been popular at the time. Thanks, for the trip down the memory well!

  3. Wow, Lynne. Three great cloths at prices we don’t see up my way! I’d call the first one “the yellow rose of texas”… I have yellow rose napkins by Vera. Love the table.

    1. Thanks, Robin. The tablecloths were a find. They were selling for $8 originally but I was there on the last day and they were 1/2 price. Your napkins sound wonderful. Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely week.
