Exciting Updates on Our Bathroom Renovation

Welcome to the blog today, friends!

I’m so happy you stopped by to catch up on the progress of our bathroom renovation. It seems like every week brings something new, and this week was no exception!

After several days of waiting, we’re finally back in business. Construction paused while we waited for the building inspector to come by, and as you can imagine, we were anxious to hear the results. Thankfully, everything passed with flying colors! There were no issues to address, which was wonderful news, and the project is now moving forward once again.

At this stage, all of the plumbing and electrical work has been completed and inspected, giving us a solid foundation for the next phase of the renovation. It’s exciting to know that so much of the important work behind the walls is now finished.

On Friday, the crew focused their attention on the shower. They carefully prepared the area by installing the waterproof membrane, setting the shower tray, and completing all of the necessary prep work so the space will be ready for drywall. While these aren’t the glamorous parts of a renovation, they’re some of the most important. Knowing that everything is being done correctly gives us great peace of mind and will help ensure that our new shower will be beautiful, functional, and built to last for many years.

With each passing day, we’re getting a little closer to seeing our vision come together. It’s so rewarding to watch this space slowly transform from a construction zone into what will eventually become a peaceful and welcoming retreat.

The crew finished installing the drywall in the shower and applied the first coat of joint compound over the moisture-resistant drywall. It’s amazing how quickly the room is beginning to take shape now that the walls are going back up.

I’m sure I’ve probably left out a step or two along the way—there are so many details involved in a renovation like this that it’s hard to keep track of everything! What I do know is that each stage builds on the one before it, and it’s reassuring to watch the process unfold in the hands of such a skilled crew.

Tomorrow they’ll be back to sand the first coat and continue the drywall finishing process. It may not be the most exciting part of the renovation, but it’s one of those behind-the-scenes steps that makes all the difference. Taking the time to create smooth, well-finished walls now will provide the perfect foundation for the beautiful tile and finishing touches that are still to come.

Every day brings us one step closer to having our new bathroom, and it’s so much fun to see the transformation happening a little at a time.

The crew also drywalled where the sinks will go with more water resistant drywall.

Once the drywall has been completely finished, sanded smooth, and everything is ready, the tile installers will take over. That’s when we’ll really begin to see the bathroom transformed. They’ll start by tiling the shower and then move on to the floor, bringing in the beautiful finishes we’ve been looking forward to since this project began.

It feels like we’ve reached an exciting turning point. For weeks, most of the work has involved plumbing, electrical, framing, and all of the important structural details that are hidden behind the walls. While those steps are essential, they’re not always the most visually exciting. Now we’re getting closer to the stage where the design really starts to shine, and we can finally begin to imagine what the finished bathroom will look like.

It’s been wonderful to watch this renovation come together one step at a time, and each day brings us a little closer to the finish line. I can’t wait to share the next phase with you as the tile begins to go in and our vision starts to become a reality. Thanks so much for following along on this adventure!

As if renovating the bathroom wasn’t enough excitement, we decided to add just a little more chaos to our lives! We cleared everything out of the front hallway, prepped the walls, and headed off to choose a paint color. After looking at what felt like dozens of samples, we settled on a beautiful dusty rose that complements our rugs perfectly.

By the end of the day, we had finished painting the entire front hallway as well as the hallway leading to the two guest bedrooms. In the photo above, you can see the color once it had dried, and I have to say, I’m really pleased with how it turned out. It adds a lovely warmth to the space without being overpowering, and it feels fresh and inviting.

Tomorrow we’ll finish the remaining hallway, and once the construction crew wraps up for the week on Friday, we’ll turn our attention to the hallway leading to our bedroom. After that, we’ll tackle the bedroom itself. It’s certainly a busy time around here, but we’re excited to freshen up these spaces while everything is already in a state of upheaval.

Who would have guessed that a small leak in the shower would lead to a complete bathroom renovation—and inspire us to give the rest of the house a fresh new look as well? Sometimes one unexpected project has a way of snowballing into several others, but in the end, I think we’ll be so glad we took the opportunity. When everything is finished, the entire house will feel refreshed, clean, and ready for a new chapter.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing this renovation journey with us. Your kind comments and encouragement mean so much, and I always enjoy having you along for the adventure. I’ll be back in about a week with another update, and hopefully by then we’ll have tile to admire and even more progress to share. Until then, take care and have a wonderful week!
