August clean out sometimes takes place before school starts. Households are going through closets in readiness for the new school year and people bring their discards to the Thrift Store. The Thrift Stores have been a little better stocked in the past couple of weeks and I’ve been taking advantage. Today’s shop is an eclectic one with some nice items at reasonable prices.

First up is this really nice sign framed in a rough barn-like wood. It boasts a quote by A. A. Milne attributed to Winnie the Pooh, “As soon as I saw you I knew an adventure was going to begin”. The sign was $2.20.

This Lenox balloon glass fits in with some I already have. It was 60 cents. Sometimes sets of crystal are filled one glass at a time.

Four Laura Ashley plates in two different colors, blue and cream, with a border of lovely rose flowers were found at the same shop. The plates were 45 cents a piece. These will make another nice addition to some of the flowered plates I have now.

I found this very sweet, checked pillow with a reindeer leaping across the front of the pillow. It’s a nice casual look for Fall or the holiday season. The pillow was really reasonable and washed up beautifully. The cost…$1.50.

These placemats and napkins are from Williams Sonoma and and will work well for that transition from Summer into Fall. Williams Sonoma is a great brand and they hold up quite well. The placemats were 75 cents each and the napkins about 35 cents a piece.

I also found a matching set of napkins for the placemats. All the linens laundered well and had no stains or blemishes. It was a nice addition and I can’t wait to use them.

I have a small collection of Bunnykins and they have gotten quite expensive in the past few years. This set was an exception. I found this one…plate bowl and cup…for $2.25 at Goodwill. I was really excited to find this as it is in wonderful condition and looks brand new.

The last thing found in this shop was a beautiful Pottery Barn throw with a lovely fringed edge. After laundering the throw came back to an original state. There are no stains or pulls and it is in virtually new condition. I’ll be using this for lots of things from table coverings to sofa throws. The cost was only $3.

I was really happy with what I found today and the prices I paid. Everything came from two Goodwill stores close to home. You never know what you will find. Happy Thrifting!

A simple setting using the just thrifted placemats and napkins.
