Action, adventure…a thrill a minute…it’s the season for the summer blockbuster movie. As a veteran movie watcher I look forward to new movie seasons and this summer there are some new editions to old favorites. Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible have already made an appearance and a sequel to “The Meg” comes out next week. So in preparation for a trip to the movies we had a small get together to refresh our memories for the coming attraction.

A little wine was poured to go along with some snack food…food you really don’t have at the movies but wish you could! Note: the smell of movie popcorn triggers nostalgic memories but it is sooo bad for you! LOL

This big cutting board was found at the Goodwill “Last Chance” store last year. My Hubby repaired and refurbished the board and it’s perfect for holding a large selection of goodies. You can see from the picture that there is a selection of fresh fruits (strawberries, mandarin orange slices, and grapes). I served some nice healthy vegetables including carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower. Nuts, olives, snow peas and cherry tomatoes were also included. Tuna finger sandwiches offered something a little more substantial and there was guacamole and blue cheese dressing for dipping. English cheddar, edam and garlic herb cheeses rounded out the platter.

I set the platter on the coffee table in easy reach for munching during the movie. A small hand thrown pottery vase filled with fresh garden flowers and some herbal greens graced the table. Then it was time to sit back and enjoy the thrills for two hours of suspended reality.

Enjoying a rainy or sizzling hot afternoon indoors with a fun adventure movie is a great way to spend some time. Add good company, lots of laughter, oohs and aahs and healthy snacks and you have the recipe for an enjoyable, hot summer afternoon. Pick your movie of choice, nothing to serious, and have a great time.
That sounds like a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!
It was relaxing to just sit and watch a fun movie with some healthy snacks. Hope you get to try it son, Joanne. Have a great week.

What a delicious and healthy spread. I love that large chopping board.
When I found it, Donna, a lady approached me and said she had just put it back. She didn’t think she could clean it properly. It’s nice to have a Hubby who is great with fixing things. An electric sander and some food safe oil was all we needed. Have a great week.
