Tray vignettes are great because you can pick-up the tray and move it to any part of your home where you might need a little color. As you can probably tell I really enjoy using color in my decor. T his particular room is filled with greens and roses and browns with pops of yellow. I decided to put together a tray that would be super easy and would blend in with the colors already in the room.
I started with a silver tray and left it a bit tarnished for that subtle golden touch to the silver. I wanted to keep the feel from being too formal so added a pottery dish and a pottery vase to add some earthiness to the setting. The greens in the two pieces blended well together but weren’t too similar.
I found these really eye-catching squash in the shape of stars when shopping for produce. They have great color and texture as well as being a good size. I added a pumpkin to the group for additional color and texture. You can see how easy this is…one rectangular pottery dish and three members of the squash family in different colors. I set the pottery dish diagonally on the silver tray.
The vase (which is really a pitcher) is quite stunning. I don’t remember exactly where I found it but I’ve had it for a few years. I love the way the vines warp the base and travel to the top of the pitcher in a raised pattern. I used red and yellow common Fall flowers for the vase and added those colors to the Fall blend already on the tray. The tall vase and the flowers carry your eye upwards to the rest of the room.
Flanking the arrangement on either side are heavy silver candlesticks holding soft green candles ready to be lit when evening falls and a glass of red wine is in hand. Just a few items set the mood for a lovely addition to the room.
The yellow squash and the yellow mums pick-up the yellow in the loveseat directly behind the vignette. The star-shaped squash mimics the star-shaped flowers in the loveseat pulling the look together. The tray sits on a live-edged coffee table made by my talented Hubby.
This simple arrangement took only a few moments to put together and you can move it to a different location with ease. Hope this gives you some ideas for your home. Looks amazing Lynne! I bought two of the same star shaped gourds a few weeks ago. I thought they were so pretty and I could not wait to use them. Then my son and daughter got a hold of them and they are no longer, as you can imagine. So I am thrilled to see that you used them for your tray! Made me feel better. Pleasure touring with you.
