Royal Hunt Tablescape

Welcome to the blog today! I’m so delighted you stopped by. I’m sharing one of my absolute favorite china patterns with you, set in a tablescape that blends rustic charm, country elegance, and Old World hunt themes. This particular china holds a special place in my heart, and I love bringing it out during the holiday season because it perfectly captures the festive colors of red, green, and gold. It’s more than just a beautiful set—it’s a treasure trove of memories, gifted to me by my wonderful husband. Collecting each piece was a true adventure, with trips to tucked-away thrift and resale stores, uncovering hidden gems together.
Every item on this table has been thrifted, proving that you can create something stunning and meaningful with finds from thrift stores and estate sales. There’s a unique joy in uncovering these treasures and weaving them into a setting
Now, let’s take a closer look at this exquisite pattern. Isn’t it stunning? At the heart of the design, a vibrant pheasant stands proudly beside a charming arrangement of fruits, evoking a sense of rustic elegance. The intricate scrollwork, delicately edged in gold, adds a touch of refinement that elevates the entire look. Surrounding the plate, a rich green band, also trimmed with gold, complements the design beautifully.
What truly captures the holiday spirit is the red and green tartan pattern circling the rim—it’s classic, timeless, and so festive. You can also catch a glimpse of the matching dinner plate, which echoes the same beautiful motifs along its edge. This pattern is a feast for the eyes, full of rich details and holiday charm that make it the perfect choice for a seasonal table setting.

The charm of this pattern doesn’t stop with the pheasant! Around the rim, you’ll also find two other beautifully detailed animals: a graceful stag and an adorable rabbit. Each drawing is so intricate, capturing the essence of these creatures with a remarkable level of artistry. Together, they create a delightful scene that feels like a page from an old-world storybook.
Every plate truly is a miniature work of art, blending nature’s beauty with the elegance of the season. It’s the kind of china that invites you to linger at the table, admiring each detail and appreciating the craftsmanship that makes it so special.

Here is a closer look at the dinner plate, where the artistry truly comes to life. Hunting dogs join the scene, weaving between the depictions of the pheasant, stag, and rabbit as they chase them around the rim. The dogs, rendered in gold, add a dynamic sense of movement to the design, tying together the rustic, country, and hunt themes beautifully.
The intricacy of the pattern is simply breathtaking. Each detail, from the dogs’ poised forms to the rich colors and textures, speaks to the exceptional craftsmanship behind this china. It’s a perfect blend of elegance and storytelling, making every meal feel like a celebration of tradition and art.

For the base of this table setting, I chose a woolen throw, which adds warmth and texture while perfectly complementing the china. The rich browns, deep reds, and soft golds in the rug echo the colors of the plates, enhancing the rustic elegance of the scene. It creates a sense of being transported to another time and place—a cozy, yet refined wooden hunting lodge.
Picture it: an elegant retreat at the end of a brisk day on horseback, the sound of hounds in the distance, and the crisp air giving way to the warmth of a crackling fire. You gather around the table, the glow of candlelight reflecting on the gold-trimmed plates, ready to enjoy a hearty, comforting meal that begins with a steaming bowl of soup. It’s a setting that invites both indulgence and storytelling, where the rustic charm of the outdoors meets the sophistication of timeless design.
To build on the cozy foundation of the woolen throw, I added a large, red, woven placemat. The texture of the placemat complements the softness of the throw while adding a pop of festive color that enhances the holiday feel. It’s a subtle layer that brings depth and interest to the table.
Next, a wooden charger serves as the perfect base for the plates, grounding the setting with a natural, rustic touch. The warm tones of the wood beautifully frame the china, highlighting its intricate design and colors. For the plate stack, I chose to use all pieces from the same pattern. The cohesive look allows the rich colors, detailed illustrations, and gold accents to truly shine, making this table both inviting and elegant. Each layer feels like a celebration of the pattern’s artistry and charm.

The cloth napkin adds the perfect touch of seasonal charm to the table. Covered in a delicate pattern of pine and berries, it echoes the colors and themes of the china beautifully, tying the entire setting together. The natural greenery design adds a festive yet understated elegance that complements the rustic and holiday-inspired elements.
To complete the look, I chose a napkin ring that mirrors the rich reds, greens, and golds found in the plates and placemats. Adding a touch of whimsy and refinement, the golden deer gracefully leaping around the ring is a delightful nod to the hunt theme. It’s these small, thoughtful details that bring the table to life, creating a setting that feels as warm and welcoming as the meal that’s about to be enjoyed.

Hand-blown red goblets add a striking touch to the table, their rich hue picking up on the deep reds in the china and placemats. The substantial weight and elegant craftsmanship of the goblets bring a sense of balance and grounding to the table, while their vibrant color adds warmth.
To accompany the red goblets, I’ve included a stunning cut-glass wine goblet by Kingsley. Its intricate design catches the light beautifully, offering a touch of sparkle and refinement that contrasts wonderfully with the rustic elements of the setting. Together, these glasses not only serve a practical purpose but also elevate the overall aesthetic, creating a table that feels festive, elegant, and ready for celebration.

The silver-plated flatware brings an exquisite finishing touch to the table. With its highly decorated stems, the flatware complements the intricate details of the china, ensuring the setting feels cohesive and thoughtfully curated. The ornate design adds a touch of formality and elegance, balancing beautifully with the rustic and festive elements of the table.
The substantial weight of the flatware pairs perfectly with the bold presence of the china, anchoring the overall look and ensuring each element feels harmonious. These decorative pieces are not only functional but also elevate the table’s aesthetic, creating a setting that feels rich, layered, and ready to impress your guests.

To complete the look, I added decorative Fitz & Floyd deer, which felt perfectly fitting for this tablescape. The rich colors of the deer—earthy browns, golds, greens and reds—reflect the hues that tie together the entire setting, from the china to the napkin rings. Their graceful form and intricate design evoke the beauty of the season, enhancing the rustic, holiday-inspired ambiance.
As the evening approaches and the candles are lit, the soft glow will dance off the deer and bring a warm, inviting light to the table. It’s the kind of setting where the flicker of candlelight, the elegance of the china, and the warmth of the season come together to create a truly magical atmosphere, perfect for sharing a meal and making cherished memories.

The overview of the table gives you a sense of how the colors blend together in this rustic setting.

Above, the chandelier is draped with individual Waterford snowflakes, each one uniquely crafted, just like the real snowflakes that fall gently from the winter sky. These delicate pieces add a beautiful sparkle to the setting, catching the light and creating a soft, glimmering effect that enhances the table’s festive atmosphere.
The snowflakes bring a touch of winter wonder to the scene, as if the magic of the season has been captured and woven into the very air. Their intricate designs shimmer above the table, adding a sense of enchantment and elegance, making the entire space feel as though it’s been transformed into a winter haven. It’s the perfect finishing touch to a table that invites guests to linger, enjoy, and bask in the warmth and beauty of the season.

As night falls, soft light casts a gentle glow across the table, highlighting the crystal as it glimmers in the darkness. The flicker of candlelight adds a magical touch, allowing imagination to soar as the deer seem to come alive, their delicate forms illuminated by the warm, inviting glow.
The atmosphere is one of warmth and joy, where the sparkle of crystal, the glow of candles, and the intricate beauty of the setting set the stage for an evening filled with merriment. Laughter and conversation will accompany the feast as friends and family gather to celebrate the holiday season together, making cherished memories around a table that feels as festive and special as the occasion itself.

Wreaths, trees, and snowflakes bring the beauty of the outdoors in, creating the perfect atmosphere for this Royal Hunt experience. It’s a celebration of both nature and tradition, with every detail carefully chosen to enhance the ambiance. Setting a beautiful table doesn’t just create a stunning visual—it makes everyone feel special, creating a space where memories are made and moments are cherished.
The combination of rustic charm and elegant touches creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, designed to put everyone at ease as they enjoy good company and delicious food. I’m so grateful you joined me for this festive Royal Hunt feast, and I hope it inspires you to create your own memorable celebrations filled with beauty, joy, and the warmth of the season.

That china is truly gorgeous! I love the combinations of textures, colors, and patterns you’ve used to create a welcoming table. I need to look for some stars or snowflakes to hang from my dining room chandelier. I think that would be a beautiful addition! I did look at snowflake ornaments at the Waterford factory this summer…let’s just say I didn’t want to chance breaking one on the way home (and not that the price made me gasp)!

The Waterford snowflakes are really beautiful. It’s such fun to hang them each year and they also work well for after the holidays for a winter theme. The Waterford factory tour is fascinating. I didn’t purchase anything there, either. Same reasons. LOL Have a merry week.
