After a busy day I had to get ready for a family meal without much time to prepare. Sometimes those meals work out the very best. The Nikko china pictured above is one of my very favorite patterns. The colors are predominantly blue, green and yellow but the pattern has a lot of movement and seems to shout out, “Look at Me, you don’t need anything else.”
I started the table setting with a pale yellow tablecloth that would pick up the bits of yellow in the dinnerware. Then I used a Villeroy and Boch salad/dessert plate rimmed in two shades of blue to add another plate to the setting. A simple rattan charger was placed under the dinner plate adding that casual feel to the setting. I used my every day stainless for the flatware. The pattern is simple and elegant and goes with most dishes.
The napkin is in two shades of blue and picks up the two shades in the flowers in the plate. It is held together by a napkin ring in blue and yellow. At the top of the setting you can see the streams of light variation that were coming in the window that afternoon.
It’s fun to combine different china patterns into one setting. Makes the table more interesting.
Two different crystal patterns are used in this setting. One is a Mikasa pattern and The other is Rockport. Don’t you love the way the light moves across the table?
A bouquet of pink flowers was added to a cut glass crystal vase for the table. They made a beautiful centerpiece flanked by two candlesticks.
This took about 10 minutes to put together and the table was casual and friendly. We were welcoming a new addition to the family.
This is Beaver. He is a rescue dog that my daughter found at the local shelter. He is quite the gentleman and had excellent manners on his first visit to our home. We are looking forward to seeing more of him in the future.
Although he didn’t join us for dinner it was clear he approved of the table setting. LOL
