Spring Garden Table Setting

I was looking for the inspiration for a tablescape and found it when I glanced outside the window and saw my “Snowball Viburnum” covered in huge blossoms. I thought they would make a wonderful centerpiece. When I went out to collect the flowers I saw that my azaleas needed a little trimming. So I added a few of the azalea blossoms to the vase. Welcome, Friends, to a Spring Tablescape straight from the garden.

I started this tablescape with a lace tablecloth in white. The cut glass vase holds the flowers and is quite intricate. The table setting is a collection of plates with blues, pinks and greens displayed.

A Mikasa silver charger is the foundation for the plate stack. Next I used a Mikasa dinner plate in the “Villa Medici” pattern. The rim is quite lovely with garden scenes running around the outside of the plate. Next was a salad/dessert plate from Villeroy and Boch. It has a bit of a scalloped pattern around the rim. Finally, I used an English plate by Wood & Sons in the “Gay Day” pattern. Together they make a colorful statement against the silver charger and the lace tablecloth.

The silver-plated flatware is one of my favorites because it really goes with everything. It’s simple but has that Art Deco flare.

A bit Art Deco in the flared bowls and simple stems of the goblets adds to the interest of the table setting. Love the different shades of blue that are picked up in the dinner plates and bread and butter plates. They make a statement along with the silverware.

My favorite Waterford napkin holders enclose the blue and white cotton napkins. The light and dark blue colors pick-up the light and dark blues in the plates pulling the setting together.

Here you can see the table setting with the centerpiece looking out into the garden. You can see the snowball bush in the center window in the back of the picture. Some hand made wreaths hang from each window.

Here you can see an overhead of an individual place setting. I really like how the plates compliment one another. The center plate separates the two different blues in the plates and the blues are brought together by the napkin.

A look at the table from above. The centerpiece is quite large and pretty tall filling the center of the table but not blocking the view of the diners.

Another view of the table. I like simple plates and simple colors that allow a softness in the table setting. The flowers in the center really provide the pop of color that livens up the tablescape.

I’ll leave you with another look at the flower centerpiece. Everything on the table was thrifted.
