“He’s Making a List, checking it twice, going to find out who’s naughty or nice….

This great Fitz and Floyd pattern, Santa’s List, has been available since the 1940’s but, sadly, is now discontinued. You can find it on eBay, Marketplace, and in Thrift Stores. The Santa on the plates and bowls is busy preparing for Christmas Eve and his journey to deliver toys to the world’s children. Reds, greens, whites and blues are the dominant colors with yellow as an accent.

The table is covered with a red and blue plaid tablecloth from Goodwill (about $2.25). A Christopher Radko four-car train led by an engine and completed with a caboose runs down the center of the table. Christopher Radko is famous for his blown glass ornaments but also has cookie jars and table top items for Christmas. The trains were issued over two years. The first set had the engine and a toy car. The following year a second toy car and the caboose were released. They are a limited edition item and the only complete set I have seen is this one. We were really lucky to find it. Bought it in an after Christmas sale in a consignment/thrift store. Snapped it right up. It’s a wonderful display item.

Santa leads the way as the conductor of the train. He is surrounded by a variety of trees that mark his route to deliver toys.

Two cars filled with presents follow the engine with the caboose bringing up the rear. The train is beautifully detailed and picks up all the colors in the Santa’s List china. The train echoes Santa’s light-hearted approach to a very serious job. Santa does everything with a smile.

Jingle bells are scattered along the train route bringing more red and gold to the table.

Santa glasses bring more color and more “Santa” to the table. It’s all about “Santa” as the various elements come together.

Red tartan napkins with jingle bell napkin rings add more pattern and fun to the table setting. Flatware (twig) is from Better Homes and Garden while Fiddlehead flatware from Pottery Barn gives the table a more casual air. the jingle bells are Pottery Barn and found in a Thrift Store.

Red rattan chargers blend happily with the table cloth and china (thrift store). Fitz and Floyd candlesticks decorated with presents hold candy cane pillar candles (thrift store).

Santa Claus is, indeed, making his list and Coming to Town.

Everything on the table except the Fiddlehead flatware was thrifted. These were really great finds and were collected over the last year. Most of the pieces were acquired this season. Makes creating tablescapes for the holidays much more affordable and lots and lots of fun.
