Vintage Christmas Tablescapes with Thrifted Finds

“Let the holiday lights remind us that even in the longest nights, light finds a way.”
Welcome to the Blog today, Friends
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I’m absolutely delighted you’re here. This is my favorite Blog Hop of the entire year, and it always feels a bit like welcoming dear friends in from the cold for a warm cup of tea and a little holiday cheer.
Today, I’m joining a wonderfully creative group of ladies to share beautiful Christmas tablescapes that I hope will inspire your own celebrations at home. I’ve prepared two vintage-style tables—each one gathered from thrifted treasures and special finds collected over the past few years. They’re two very different interpretations of a vintage Christmas, but both are filled with charm, nostalgia, and that little hint of magic we all love this time of year.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Special thanks to Rita from Panoply for pulling this group together for such a joyous occasion. We wouldn’t all be here without you, Rita. You’ll find links to all the bloggers at the end of this post. So, pour yourself a cup of your favorite hot beverage and come with me as we explore two vintage tablescapes.

“May the light of Christmas lead you to peace, hope, and happiness.”
This first tablescape was inspired by a beautifully thrifted tablecloth—a crisp white cloth trimmed with cool grey stripes. The moment I unfolded it, I was reminded of a serene winter morning, when fresh snow muffles the world and soft clouds linger low against the horizon. It creates the perfect foundation for a tablescape of crystal and ice, a setting where frosty elegance and thrifted charm come together to celebrate the quiet beauty of the season.

“Eat, drink, and be merry under the sparkle of the Christmas lights.”
The plate stack continues the wintry theme with layers that sparkle like a frosted morning. At the base sits a gleaming silver charger by Mikasa, its cool shine echoing the quiet shimmer of snow. Resting above it is a classic Lenox dinner plate—timeless, understated, and the perfect canvas for the season. To top it all off, I added a delicate salad plate adorned with a snowflake motif, each flake catching the light like tiny crystals. Together, these pieces create a soft, wintry elegance that feels both magical and inviting.

“The glow of Christmas lights is a gentle whisper of peace and goodwill.”
Silver, white, and soft off-white tones weave the plate stack together in a wonderfully harmonious way. The silver adds a gentle sparkle, catching the light and bringing a bit of wintry shimmer to the table. Both the Lenox plates and the Mikasa chargers are vintage patterns, and they lend that lovely sense of tradition I adore in a Christmas tablescape. Paired with the gleam of silver, the whole setting feels like a beautiful blend of old and new—classic elegance with just a hint of modern sparkle.

“May every light you see remind you of the beauty of faith and the power of love.”
The water goblet is a classic Waterford piece, crafted in beautifully cut glass. Each facet catches and reflects the light, adding a soft sparkle that complements the wintry theme. Its timeless design brings a traditional elegance to the table, echoing the charm of vintage crystal and enhancing the quiet beauty of this snowy-inspired setting.

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”– Norman Vincent Peale
The wine glass is also a Waterford treasure, this one in a vintage Art Deco pattern that absolutely shimmers in the light. I love how the glow seems to radiate from the base of the bowl, gently spreading upward until the entire glass seems to dance. It adds a touch of glamour to the table—subtle, elegant, and perfectly in keeping with the wintry sparkle of this setting.

“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.”– W.T. Ellis
The flatware features Spode’s beloved Christmas Tree pattern, adding a charming touch of nostalgia to the table. The silver finish beautifully reflects the surrounding light, giving the pieces a gentle shimmer. I love how the little green tree is framed by white—it feels as though it’s standing quietly in a wintry forest, perfectly in step with the snowy theme of the table.

“Christmas lights are like stars; they guide us to the heart of the season.”
Christmas birds have fluttered in to rest on the plates, sharing their jewel-like tones with the table. Elegant peacocks in shades of blue and rose perch gracefully beside a sweet little multicolored bird, while a larger sparkling yellow bird adds a cheerful burst of light. Together they bring a touch of enchantment, as if they’ve paused mid-flight to join the guests and share in the joy of the holidays.
Napkins in soft grey, bright white, and a pop of festive red continue the cool winter palette. Each one is gathered in a silver Christmas tree napkin ring, echoing the snowy forest theme woven throughout the table. As a final touch, a silver place card holder—also shaped like a beautiful Christmas tree—adds a hint of sparkle and a warm welcome for each guest.

“Christmas lights are small beacons of hope, lighting the way for peace and joy.”
Above the table, cut-crystal Waterford snowflakes seem to drift in midair, each one catching the light in its own exquisite way. They surround the chandelier and dangle gracefully from its arms, creating a sparkling canopy that feels straight out of a winter wonderland. Their delicate glimmer adds a sense of wonder to the entire tablescape—as if a gentle snowfall has settled indoors just for this moment.

“Eat, drink, and be merry under the sparkle of the Christmas lights.”
The stars seem to gaze down on a glorious centerpiece of cut crystal, each piece catching and scattering the light like frozen dew. Included in the arrangement are three elegant cut-glass candlesticks, their white tapers reaching upward as if drawn toward the snowflakes shimmering above. Together, they create a luminous display—soft, radiant, and full of winter magic—that anchors the entire table in a glow of quiet celebration.

“Some Christmas tree ornaments do more than glitter and glow, they represent a gift of love given a long time ago.” — Tom Baker
It looks quite lovely from above and…

“The spirit of the season never has to end as long as you keep your loved ones near, and the holiday wish in your heart.” — Jiminy Cricket, “Holiday Wishes”
…when the candles are lit and the cold dark night encloses the room, light shines forth from the tapers to the crystal glasses, from the centerpiece to the snowflakes above, surrounding the table with the light of love and hope.
All the pieces on the table are vintage and/or thrifted. I love that you can put together such beauty with the ultimate recycling… thrifting.
The next tablescape is very different, and I hope you’ll like it as much as I do.

“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” – Edna Ferber
This table is steeped in vintage pieces, beginning with the china — Royal Hunt by Noritake. This classic pattern, dating to 1990, is instantly recognizable with its festive red and green checked border. Stags, hounds, and hares dance around the rim, creating a charming woodland story that feels just right for the holiday season. It’s one of my very favorite patterns to bring out at Christmastime, and every year it delights me all over again.
The dinner and salad/dessert plates rest on an intricate gold charger whose filigree design feels almost Renaissance in character. The warm gold picks up the accents in the china and adds a regal touch that elevates the entire place setting.
A dark green damask napkin, rich and beautifully textured, is gathered in a deer napkin ring that echoes the colors and imagery of the plates. That little stag peeking out—such a sweet nod to the pattern—adds just the right bit of whimsy.
All of this rests on a luxurious velveteen tablecloth, deep and soft, bordered with a graceful band of green. The fabric catches the candlelight in the loveliest way, reminding me of an old-fashioned hunting lodge dressed for Christmas. It creates the perfect foundation for a cozy, elegant holiday table.

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” – Charles M. Schultz
Vintage silver-plate flatware, adorned with an intricate floral pattern, adds a lovely old-world touch to the table. There’s something so special about using silver that has lived a full life before joining your own collection. The gentle patina that settles into the curves and blossoms over time brings a richness that brand-new pieces simply can’t imitate.
Each fork and spoon feels like a small heirloom, carrying a hint of history to the table and blending seamlessly with the vintage china, the velvet tablecloth, and the soft glow of candlelight. It’s a little reminder that beauty often grows deeper with time — one of the many reasons I love incorporating thrifted treasures into my holiday settings.

“May the spirit of Christmas swirl around you like snowflakes dancing on the wind.” – Unknown
The bread and butter plate, set just to the side of the plate stack, holds another little touch of holiday joy — a Christmas cracker. This delightful tradition is one I grew up with in Canada, and it remains one of my fondest holiday memories. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, we would share crackers around the table, tugging them open with a satisfying pop.
Inside, of course, were all the essentials: a bright paper hat that everyone had to wear (even the adults, much to our childhood amusement), a silly joke or riddle that sent us into giggles, and a tiny toy prize tucked inside like a miniature treasure.
I love carrying on this tradition in our home today. There’s something magical about watching everyone don their colorful crowns and share a laugh before the meal begins. It adds a playful, nostalgic touch to the table — a reminder that the holidays are about togetherness, joy, and those small moments that become cherished memories.

“When we remember a special Christmas, it is not the presents that made it special, but the laughter, the feeling of love, and the togetherness of friends and family that made that Christmas special.” – Catherine Pulsifer
The centerpiece is a beautiful wooden box with copper accents made by my talented husband. I used a selection of bottles containing gifts from the garden…holly, cedar, tea olive ad other evergreens to give a feeling of the outdoors to the table.

“Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it — you feel it, you know it, you believe it.” – Kevin Alan Milne
Fitz & Floyd deer anchor each end of the table with their realistic representation of these forest animals. Each one sports a red candle to light the table at dinner.

“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future.” – Agnes M. Pahro
The completed place setting looks so lush against the backdrop of the evergreen branches. The rich velveteen tablecloth, the deep greens of the napkin, and the intricate gold charger all work together to create a setting that feels both luxurious and wonderfully inviting. There’s something magical about how the natural greens soften the gold touches, making the whole table feel like a cozy woodland feast.
At each place, a golden Christmas tree stands ready to hold a name card, just waiting to be inscribed. It’s a small detail, but one that adds such charm. Place cards always make guests feel special — as if their spot at the table was chosen just for them, with love and intention. The little tree glimmers softly in the candlelight, adding to the sense of anticipation and joy that fills a holiday table.

“Christmas is a togethery sort of holiday. That’s my favorite kind.” – A. A. Milne (from Winnie the Pooh)
The china cabinet in the background is filled with pieces from my collection of Fitz & Floyd dishes… lovely touches of red and gold that help carry the color palette around the room. Their bold, festive hues echo the tones in the Royal Hunt china and the reindeer on the table, creating a sense of harmony that ties everything together beautifully.
I love how those gleaming reds and rich golds catch the light, especially in the evening. They add depth and warmth to the room. It’s such a simple way to extend the tablescape beyond the table itself, making the whole dining space feel festive, gathered, and ready for Christmas celebrations.

“It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.” — W.T. Ellis
On the tea tray behind the table, you can see another majestic deer standing proudly atop the wooden flatware box. He looks perfectly at home there, surveying the table as though he’s keeping watch over the festivities. I love how these woodland touches weave themselves throughout the room, creating little moments of discovery wherever you look.
In the foreground, the water goblet—hand-blown and vintage—joins the vintage Pairpoint wine glass to add a bit of extra sparkle to the table. When the candlelight dances across their surfaces, they shimmer beautifully, casting soft reflections that enrich the whole scene. The shape of the two glasses is similar, which helps tie them together into a cohesive pair even though they’re different pieces. That’s one of the joys of thrifting: finding treasures from different times and places that come together as if they were always meant to share the same table.

“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?” — Bob Hope
Looking out into the hallway you can see our newest ornament tree just starting to be hung with cherished ornaments.

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” — Norman Vincent Peale
Through the ornaments you can see the red, gold, and green of this festive table.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)
Thank you so much for joining me here today for this look at two very different Christmas table settings. I hope you enjoyed them both, each with its own unique charm and festive spirit. I would truly love to know which one you would choose for a holiday feast — the rustic woodland warmth of the Royal Hunt table, or the softer, elegant setting we explored earlier.

It’s a hard choice since they are so different. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
Lynne
Oh, my goodness! Both tables are stunning! I love the calm nature of the neutral table for the night after all the hosting when you just want to relax. The red one is a glorious riot of color and traditions! I think Christmas crackers is such a fun idea!

Thanks, Marsha, I couldn’t decide which one I liked best. We enjoy crackers every year and they are fun top open before the meal begins. I want to wish you and your family a magical Christmas season. Thanks for stopping by.
Lynne
Wow Lynne! Love both table settings and you’re right both very diffferbt. The flatware on each caught my eye. I’ve never seen the Spode silverware. Now I’ll be on the hunt. Happy December! XO- MaryJo
Thanks, MaryJo. Christmas is my favorite kind of table to style. I had not seen the flatware before, either, but it is really pretty and I use it throughout the season. It was a great thrifting find. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you and your family a magical Christmas season.
Lynne
I’d hard to decide which table I like best, but I do love the sparkly and atmospheric table with all of the snowflakes. Those Waterford glasses, that I spotted instantly, are so beautiful. I am also quite taken with the Spode flatware. I had no idea that Spode made flatware.
Thanks, Pattie, I love that flatware and it was such a lucky Goodwill find. I had never seen it before but I use it throughout the holiday season. Thank for stopping by and I wish you and your family a lovely holiday season.
Lynne
Lynne, both of your festive tables are lovely and you know I love decor styled with thrifted pieces. The bottle vase centerpiece on the second table is just beautiful! Wishing you a peaceful and joyous Christmas season, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks, Cecelia, I am partial to that centerpiece myself. Wishing you joy and peace throughout the season and into the coming year.
Lynne
Both tables are beautiful. I was especially taken with the peaceful snowy table which would be wonderful throughout January and February! Question – can you direct me to a source for the ornament tree? We have sooo many lovely ornaments and not enough room to display them and this looks like a great solution! Thank you.
The snowy table is very peaceful, Kim, and would work into January and February. I really like that serene vibe. Here’s the link to the site where we bought the ornament tree. It is really great for displaying ornaments that won’t fit on your regular tree. Wishing you a very happy holiday season. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FS18V5G3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Wow Lynne! Two for the price of one in table scapes. I love them both. The neutrality of one and the brightness of the other. Lovely just lovely. I like the bottle vase centerpiece on the red cloth and the cut crystal and candles centerpiece glitter so brightly on the other. You have outdone yourself and I would love to sit at either table and enjoy your company. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄🍽️🎄🎄🎄
Thanks, Kari, this is my favorite time of year to create a table setting and enjoy the company at the table. You would be welcome anytime. Wishing you and your family a joyous season.
Lynne
Both tables are absolutely beautiful. The photograph of the tablescape at night is stunning. The centerpiece just glows! I am swooning over the Spode flatware. May you have a blessed and happy Christmas season!
Thanks, Shannon, I love how that photo turned out. they were both a lot of fun to create. Wishing you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
Lynne
I would save the first table for January, more chance for snow. The second table inspires me with the deep red and dark greens. It does make me think of a hunting club. Both are beautiful.
Thanks, Darlene, I couldn’t decide which I liked best so I’ll just have to use them both. LOL Wishing you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
Lynne
Wow Lynne, both tablescapes are so beautiful. Love the soft neutral table with such charming details. The Lenox plates and the Mikasa chargers with vintage patterns are lovely. I adore waterford crystal. You have some amazing pieces. The waterford crystals are dazzling. The red table with velveteen is gorgeous. The intricate gold charger caught my eye, so rich. The Noritake china is so lovely as a plate stack with the green damask napkin. Christmas crackers are fun and festive. Your husband is truly talented in making that wooden box with copper accents. Your garden clippings are perfect within the bottles. Always a pleasure joining you at the table. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks so much, Linda, it’s always a pleasure sharing a hop with you. This is my favorite time of year to create a tablescape and I love seeing the inspiration of others. Wishing you and your family a magical and peaceful holiday season.
Lynne
Lynne, two beautiful tables!!! I love the sparkle of the first, the glow of the candles, and the beautiful Lenox and Waterford. I’ve never seen the Spode Christmas Tree flatware. It’s lovely. All is stunning! The second table is very special with the bold design of the Royal Hunt china. The colors are definitely my vibe, and I love the stags, hounds, and hares. The chargers are certainly elegant! Lovely details all around! Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
Thanks, Sarah, I couldn’t decide between the two table settings so used both on different nights. Christmas is such a wonderful time for sitting down with friends and sharing a meal. I want to wish you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
Lynne
Wow Lynne, you have set two beautiful tables. I cannot choose a favorite. I love the sparkle and elegance of the first one with Waterford crystal, Lenox plates, and the Spode flatware. The second one is dramatic with traditional colors. The Noritake Royal Hunt is a lovely pattern and is perfect with the bold colors. I would enjoy sitting at either table and taking in the details of each. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season!
You would certainly be welcome at either table, Pam. Wishing you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season. Always a pleasure to hop with you.
Lynne
Overachiever! (just kidding) Both of your tablescapes are so pretty, and they are very different! I love the first one with the Lenox Moonspun plates so much. I don’t thinkI’ve ever seen them before! I like your mixture of gold and silver on the table. Thanks for sharing a night photo with us, too. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Ricki Jill, it’s always a pleasure to participate in the Christmas hop. Wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season.
Lynne
Lynne, I am amazed by both of these lovely but very different tables. I love the sparkle of the silver and crystal table. So exquisite and could pass for a modern piece because of the bold striped grey and white tablecloth and simplicity of the dinnerware pattern – a single snowflake on the plate. But the second tablescape is so ornate with all of the details and ornate filagree. The variation on the rich colors of green, golds, reds/burgundy and the delicate details of the Fitz and Floyd pieces give an entire royal feel to this table. Both are my favorites. Both have their own style and are appropriate for what feel you are going for. Personally, I love them both and could see them each in their own event setting. I am sure there was so much work putting it all together and even more, collecting all of these lovely pieces. Would love to thrift with you wherever you may find these unique pieces. You must have a great deal of excitement finding these gorgeous discoveries. Happy Holidays!
You are welcome to thrift with me anytime, Marsha. I was out yesterday and found an $80 brand new cast iron, double handled pan by Zakarian at my local Goodwill. It was $2. Couldn’t believe it. Wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season and happy thrifting.
Lynne
Two beautiful tables Lynne! I’m partial to the traditional red and green combination for Christmas, but your first table is so serene and evokes an ‘all is calm, all is bright’ soothing vibe. It’s perfect to showcase your sparkling crystal and beautiful Waterford snowflakes overhead. I love your box your hubby built, what a wonderful centerpiece! I can see if filled all manner of things in addition to your bottles. And I’m swooning over your flatware…I love the patina and floral detail on your Godinger ‘Olde Bouquet’. I’m on the hunt to find some pieces on Etsy or eBay to add to my garden of vintage flatware. As always, it’s a treat to hop with you and join you at the table. Wishing you a Merry December and Christmas! 🎄❤️
Thanks, Mary, I found the flatware you mentioned a couple of years ago in a service for 12 for under $20. You never know what you’re going to find. It’s always a pleasure to hop with you. I wish you and your family a joyous and peaceful Christmas season.
Lynne
Lynne, both tables are beautiful. The first table just gleams the fresh fallen snow! I love that Spode silverware!! Your red and green table hits my heart strings more though! The rich traditional colors of red and green with that gorgeous Royal Hunt china is wonderful. I enjoy seeing all the Fitz and Floyd pieces in your hutch as well. I hope you have a blessed and joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
Thanks, Ann, the Christmas hoop is my favorite and this year I couldn’t decide between the two tables so used them both. The Royal Hunt tablescape I’ll be recreating for Christmas Eve’s formal dinner. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas season.
Lynne
Lynne, you’ve created two lovely and distinctive tables! Must I really choose? The shimmering, silvery one would be perfect for an intimate/romantic dinner, perhaps even for New Years. The deeply warm and richly colored table would be perfect for a larger gathering, an evening spent in delightful conversation and nostalgic stories. Both tables have wonderful seasonal dinnerware and gorgeous stemware. I can see the sparkle from here! Enjoy your tables throughout December and Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much, Sandra. I couldn’t choose so I will be using both tables during the holidays.m I love using tables with different moods to express a mood. Such fun to hop with you again. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas season.
Lynne
Oh my goodness Lynne, you have created two beautiful tablescapes, each very different but both stunning. The first one appeals to me because of the frosty reference to snow and sparkling crystal and shimmering flatware and snowflake plates that embody our snowy winters here. The second, in traditional red and green, speaks to the colors of Christmas appreciated by all. Like others, I’m amazed by your Spode flatware find (who would give that up?) but also by all the other details such as the stemware, chargers, and gorgeous dishes. I cannot choose a favorite, and I hope that you can set both for friends and family over the holiday season. It’s always a pleasure to hop with you and visit your beautiful tables. Wishing you a most joyful holiday season!
Thanks so much, Kim. I loved both tables and will be using them during the holidays. You ask a question I often ask myself. Why do people give away beautiful things? Whatever their reasons I’m grateful that I can incorporate these beautiful finds into my decor for years to come. Always a pleasure to join you on a hop. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
Lynne
Lynne, while I truly love both of these tablescapes, I do think I am partial to the Royal Hunt. I remember when you set a table with it last year, and I think the additional elements of the natural arrangement and the red velvet tablecloth heighten the appeal for me.
The snowy tablescape of the breakfast room feels very calm and could be a tablescape for throughout winter. The crystal snowflakes hanging from the chandelier are outstanding, and the glow of the candlelight really amps up the peaceful beauty.
Thank you so much for consistently delivering beautiful tablescapes with thrifted finds. It demonstrates a certain core value that I so appreciate, finding treasures and breathing new life into them. Merry December, Lynne!
Thanks so much, Rita, it is truly a pleasure to incorporate great thrifted finds into my home decor and I know you feel the same way. The Royal Hunt china is a holiday staple for me and I love using it multiple times over the season. The crystal snowflakes I’ve been collecting over several years. They are truly lovely and brighten the holidays. It’s such a pleasure to participate in the Christmas Tablescape Hop. Thanks so much for including me and organizing such a wonderful part of the holiday season. Merry Christmas, Rita.
Lynne
Oh Lynne – that sparkling candle glow!! Your first picture took my breath away! And I love the snowflakes hanging over the table. Even in the daylight they sparkle! Frosty Elegance is a perfect description! Love your Christmas flatware too – how cool is that? I’ve never seen anything like that before. The birds are such a sweet touch. OOOh – I DO like the second table – very gracious and rich. The plates are lovely, and just right with the red and green linens. I love the place card holder, the cracker, and definitely the centerpiece. Both your tables are fabulous, and I love that they’re so different. Well done my friend! I hope you have a wonderful holiday. Always so nice hopping with you!
Thanks so much, Barb. It’s so nice to share a love of tablescapes with so many friends. It’s always a pleasure to hop with you. Wishing you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
Lynne
I love the contrast of your two tables Lynne! The first one definitely feels like a frosty winter morning! I especially love the centrepiece, that almost looks like it could be icicles! The second one is so warm, welcoming and traditional. Your plate stack is stunning and looks like to be set for royalty! Wishing you a very merry holiday season.
Thanks, Maureen, always a pleasure to visit with you especially on a hop. Wishing you and your family a wondrous and peaceful Christmas season.
Lynne
Beautiful! I’ve never seen the spode flatware, or the Waterford snowflakes.
Thanks, Jeanne, the flatware is my favorite for Christmas and the snowflakes add so much sparkle to the table. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.
Lynne
Your table is gorgeous! It’s so warm and inviting.
