Recent Thrifting Finds

Welcome, friends! I’m so glad you stopped by the blog today—what a treat to share some of my recent finds with you! Autumn has truly settled in, and it always amazes me how much there is to do around the house as we get ready for Thanksgiving and, before we know it, Christmas. So, taking a morning to go treasure hunting was the perfect little break, and it was such fun! I found some charming pieces that will add a touch of warmth and sparkle to my home as I prepare for those cozy gatherings with loved ones. I can’t wait to show you!

What a gem of a find! These triangular cages have such a cozy, rustic feel that just warms my heart. The little lock at the bottom is the sweetest detail, and I can already imagine them glowing with a candle inside, wrapped up in a bit of winter greenery or maybe even filled to the brim with vintage ornaments for a holiday touch. The best part is finding them as a pair, with that big one and its smaller partner snugged right inside—it feels like a little piece of country charm waiting to come home! They just needed a good cleaning (they had a bit of soil tucked in here and there), and now they’ve got that perfectly worn-in look that adds so much character. I can’t wait to see how these beauties bring a warm, welcoming feel to our space!

Isn’t there something so timeless about a beautiful, white English teapot? When you come across a gem like this, it’s always worth taking the time to give it a close look. You want to make sure there are no chips or cracks—especially along the spout and handle, where wear often shows first. And, of course, the inside is just as important! The pristine interior of this one is such a treasure—it looks like it’s never been used, with everything clean and bright. This piece by Johnson Bros. is especially lovely, with a graceful flow to its design. The handle is not only elegant but also practical, with a comfortable grip, and there’s a charming little detail around the base that adds just the right touch of charm. It’s truly a find that would be a joy to bring home!

The little jug above is such a sweet find! This “Daisy Dot” stoneware by Marcrest, produced from the 1950s to the early 60s, has such a nostalgic charm. I love how the playful daisies and dots are scattered in neat rows around the jug, bringing a cheerful touch to any table setting. Standing at 6 inches tall and 7 inches wide from spout to handle, it’s the perfect size for a charming centerpiece or serving up a refreshing drink. The warm brown tone and delightful design make it truly special, and the fact that it’s in perfect condition just adds to its allure. It’s the kind of piece that not only catches the eye but also tells a story of simpler times!

I love how this “Daisy Dot” jug is incorporated into a simple coffee table vignette! It adds such a lovely, deeper brown hue to the room, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s perfect for holding fresh flowers or even as a charming pitcher for a country tea gathering. I paid just $8 for this piece! It’s true that thrift store prices have been on the rise lately—just a few years ago, I might have snagged it for $2 or $4. Still, finding unique pieces like this one is always worth it, and it’s found the perfect spot in my home…there will be many other perfect spots as the seasons change. LOL. It’s those little treasures that bring so much character and charm to my space!

The last piece I’m excited to share with you today is another lovely stoneware teapot made in England by J & G Meakin. I already have several other pieces by Meakin, and I truly appreciate the craftsmanship and beautiful lines that define their work. This teapot is a bit taller than the Johnson Bros. one, but its classic lines caught my eye and drew me in. It’s in excellent condition, and I’m happy to report that it’s very clean on the inside as well. While I know that a little interior tea staining can indicate a piece has been well loved, I personally prefer having a beautifully clean interior. It just adds to the charm of the piece!

Here you can see that I’ve added my new treasures to a lovely display of teapots and tea china in my dining room. I think all the teapots and china in this hutch were thrifted or found at estate sales, and the variety of shapes and decorative elements is endlessly fascinating to me.
Thank you so much for joining me today to take a look at some of my recent finds! It’s always a pleasure to have you visit. I truly hope your next thrift store outing brings you some wonderful treasures to add to your home!

My goodness I love that pitcher! I have rhe matching cookie jar and a coordinating candlestick. I nevervknew the name of the design – so charming!
It is a sweet little pitcher, Gina, and you are lucky to have some of the other pieces. I love great finds like this. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Great finds Lynne! It’s always fun to see how you use the thrifted treasures. XO- MaryJo

I see you never pass up a teapot/coffeepot…totally agree on that one. They will become extinct in the next generation and totally replaced by appliances, sadly. Tea cups and saucers, too. Lovely post, and great finds. Nice little pitcher, too. Sandi
It’s such a difficult thing to pass up a beautiful teapot. I definitely have a weakness. LOL. I don’t think tea drinking will ever disappear but the method of preparation and delivery may very well change. I’m going to enjoy it while I can. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

I love to see your thrift finds! I am itching to get to the antique store. I will have to go after we finish having our carpets cleaned this afternoon. Thanks for inspiring me!
My pleasure, Jackie, we are painting right now so I won’t be able to go again for a few days. Find something great. Have a super week.

Those cages are truly a find! I love how versatile they can be, just by changing what’s inside. The white teapot is beautiful as is the brown jug! You truly have an eye for good finds!

Thanks, Marsha, I live in a great area for thrifting and I know that’s not true for everyone. My husband and I have a good time together searching out treasures. It’s fun to think of ways to display what we find. Have a wonderful week, Marsha, hope things slow down a bit for you.

Both those English teapots look like ones I have. Love the dark brown pitcher as well. What a lovely haul. At Inlinkz-335-senior-salon-pit-stop too.
Thanks, Nancy, I have a weakness for teapots and it sounds like you do too. We have tea every afternoon. It’s such a nice break in the day to relax with a cup of tea. It’s always fun to find something special when thrifting. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

They’re lovely. Thank you for sharing this post with us at the Will Blog for Comments #52 linkup. We hope to see you back sharing more during our linkup #53. (It will be on a holiday schedule, open Dec. 2 – Jan. 2 while we take a break during the week of Thanksgiving.)
Thanks, Jennifer, always a pleasure to have you visit. Have a great week.

Well, it’s one of the ‘regrets’ I have, Lynne. I downsized my white coffee pot collection (& I used them for tea as well). Love yours, though! It’s harder to thrift in this city than it was in NJ, lol.
I feel your pain. I seem to have to go further from home to get some good thrifts. I’m hoping that is only temporary. I hope you find some church sales, estate sales, etc. to fill in the gaps.
