Great Thrift Store Find

What a delightful surprise I have to share with you today, Friends! Welcome, I’m so happy you decided to visit today. Lately, the thrift store shelves have been a bit bare and I’ve had more luck at estate sales. But on this particular day, I stumbled upon a real treasure at my local thrift store, and I couldn’t wait to show it to you.
Take a peek at the picture above, and you’ll see this beautiful double-handled soup bowl. What makes this piece so special is the superb painting inside—it truly sets it apart. Right there, on the inside of the bowl, is a lovely illustration of a bird perched on a flowering tree. The delicate details of the flowers, branches, and that sweet little bird are just exquisite. And, to top it all off, there’s a gorgeous gold trim around the rim and on the handles. As soon as I laid eyes on this bowl, I knew it was coming home with me.
There’s something so wonderful about finding a piece like this that feels both unique and charming. I can already picture serving a warm, comforting soup in it—what a lovely way to make a simple meal feel extra special! Have you had any lucky finds recently? I’d love to hear all about your own little thrifted treasures!

Each of these cups is a little masterpiece on its own, but together, they create a truly stunning display. Just look at how beautifully they complement each other! In the picture, you can see four of the bowls I was lucky enough to find and bring home.

Believe it or not, there were actually eight of these beautiful bowls—and yes, they all came home with me! It was clear from the moment I saw them that someone had taken great care of this china. You can see it in how beautifully each piece has been preserved.
The colors on these bowls are still so bright and vibrant, with no signs of fading. And the gold trim? It’s completely intact, adding that perfect touch of elegance. It’s always such a joy to find pieces like these that have been so lovingly kept through the years.

I was thrilled to discover that this beautiful china comes from a top-tier maker—Aynsley China, established in England way back in 1775. The pattern is called “Pembroke,” a stunning reproduction of an 18th-century design. Isn’t that incredible? There’s something so special about owning a piece of history like this.
The porcelain is quite thin, which is another hallmark of its fine quality. You can almost feel the craftsmanship and tradition in every detail. It’s pieces like these that make my heart beat a little faster—they’re not just beautiful; they’re a little slice of the past, lovingly preserved.

Here’s a closer look at the outside of the bowl—just look at that lovely shading and the array of colors woven into the pattern. It’s truly remarkable how many different hues are at play here, each one blending seamlessly with the next.
What I love most about this china is its versatility. You can mix and match it with so many different color themes by simply pulling out one or two shades from the bowl. Whether it’s soft pastels or rich, deep tones, this pattern seems to adapt beautifully, making it a perfect choice for so many different settings and occasions.

The best part? This entire set of eight bowls came at the usual thrift store prices—what a lucky find! I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon these beautiful pieces right there on the shelf.
You can bet I’ll be keeping an eye out for more pieces from this collection. It would be such a treat to add a few more to my table setting and see how they bring even more charm and character to the mix! Thanks for joining me here today and good luck on your next thrifting adventure.

Hi,
These soup bowls are absolutely beautiful. Congratulations!
However, I suspect that they come with matching saucers. I just checked on ebay and found the exact same Pembroke soup bowls for sale, with saucers. That would be typical. So please keep your eyes open in case the matching saucers, or any small desert plates, show up.
Of course, you could always use the bowls with just about any white saucer or colored plate, but if you could find the matching ones, that would be great. Keep your eyes open!
Thanks for the great blog post!
Mary
Thanks, Mary, I agree that they probably come with saucers and I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for them. In the meantime I’ll be placing them on white saucers as you suggest. Thanks for stopping by and sharing. I really appreciate the help. Have a great week.

These bowls are truly stunning, Lynne! I am sure you have already come up with many different combinations in your head for them. I love the insides as much as the outsides. What a find!

I have a couple of Pembrooke smalls. The cream soup bowls are simply lovely. Such a nice find. I gave away my set of plain ivory unmarked bowls with saucers before we moved. I figured I would borrow daughters white set if the need arises.
It’s good to have daughters to borrow from. This Pembroke pattern really stole my heart and I will be looking for additional pieces. Have found a few in antique stores but at higher prices than I was willing to pay. I keep hoping for another find. LOL thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great week.
