Welcome, Friends, I’m so happy you are here today. “Thrifting is more than just shopping…it’s an everyday adventure.” Long time thrifters know this is true. There’s a thrill involved in finding a vintage piece, something unique or hard to find. There’s a satisfaction in finding a beautiful item for a fraction of the retail price. It’s a great way to stretch your home decor budget. This first thrifting adventure in July turned up some interesting finds. Lets see what they are together.

It’s time for Christmas in July and many thrift stores put out collected holiday offerings at this mid-year point. Lenox ornaments are some of my favorites and I found three lovely examples on this shop. The one above is “Silent Night” and rather sought after.

I also found “Rejoice” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”. These are all from favorite Christmas carols and depict angels.

Another great find was this Waterford ornament still in the original box with the paper slide that fits over the box still intact. The best part, they were 70% off the thrift store price which made this less than $5.

This wooden tray (it has a flat bottom) was another find at the same shop. All their vintage was on sale for that great 70% off.. My husband will sand this a bit and then oil it with some mineral oil before we use it. It will have a lovely, rich patina when he’s finished.

All these items are from stores we visited in Hendersonville, NC. It’s about 40 minutes from home but well worth the trip as there are several shops we like to visit. My favorite thrift store is on the outskirts of Hendersonville and where we found most of our pieces this time. The Humane Society Thrift Store always has wonderful pieces that are beautifully displayed and the prices are great.

The piece above is from a little thrift store in downtown Hendersonville. I’d been looking for a crystal sugar bowl with a lid and found one. How lucky was that?

I found a second one at another shop in Hendersonville. I have crystal creamers so these will work well.

One of the best finds of the day was this set of six iced tea/water goblets by Fostoria in the “Greenfield Clear’ pattern. The iced teas are apparently quite rare and sell for about $50.00 each. This set of six was $12.00 but they were on sale so they ended up being about $1.50 per glass. It was a nice find and they are quite pretty. They have a pretty high lead content so have a nice weight to them.

I’ve been collecting biscuit jars and crystal lidded containers for the kitchen and found this beautiful Polish example in leaded cut crystal. It looks really nice on the counter next to the other containers. I like these because they are beautiful but also because you can see the contents of the containers without having to open them up. They also reflect the under the counter light in their facets which makes everything look better.

These last pieces I bought for a friend. She collects these Molas which are South American fabric art. They are in bright colors with simple outlines. All of these depict cats…maybe jungle cats. I messaged her and sent pictures from the store and she was thrilled. They were already framed and ready to hang. They measured between 17″-18″ X 13″-14″ so were a really good size.

Here are pictures of the other two pieces. The best part…they were also in the 70% off sale for vintage items. Such fun to find these for my Friend. They are already on their way via UPS and she’ll have them to hang in her home this week.

It was a great shopping day in Hendersonville and such fun to find all these lovely things. Thanks so much for joining me here today. It’s always a pleasure to have you visit. Good luck on your next thrifting adventure.
