It’s Summer and it’s hot outside. It makes it the perfect time to indulge in a pretty table setting that is all about summer flowers and summer colors. I’m so happy you’re here to share this setting with me. So let’s get started. It all began with the lovely summer tablecloth covered in vining flowers in pinks and purples.

Here is a close-up of the tablecloth. You can see the beautiful flowers in wonderful summer colors. When I put the centerpiece together I was careful to choose the same colors in the tablecloth. Purple hydrangeas, cone flowers and lemon balm for filler make up the centerpiece. The flowers were kept nice and low so conversation will not be impeded. It’s a casual look with a nice summer “vibe”.

The plate stack is made up of a charger, dinner plate and dessert/salad plate with a beautifully embroidered napkin separating the dinner and dessert plates.

All the plates are from different makers and were all thrifted. The salad/dessert plate is Czechoslovakian and composed of off-white and white porcelain with a flower border. The dinner plate is called “Eternal Beau” by Johnson Bros. of England. The eight-sided plate is white porcelain with a wide border of trailing vines and flowers. The chargers are by Lenox in a lovely green color with flowers scattered around the border.

Wallace stainless steel flatware with a motif depicting bees is a perfect accompaniment to the rest of the table setting. I love the way the stem is bordered in gold as well.

“Opal Innocence” is by Lenox and I used it as the water glass. It is complemented by a wine glass by Mikasa in the “Marquis” pattern. It’s really never a problem to mix crystal patterns on a table. It adds interest to the table setting and why not use two beautiful patterns instead of one?

Here’s an overhead shot of the table. You can see how the colors and the patterns come together to create a lovely summer table. The flower centerpiece emphasizes the predominant colors in the tablecloth.

Dinner was a nice summer meal of Cornish hens baked with orange and herbs, rice and broccoli.

Bisucuits, a southern favorite, accompanied the meal.

The meal would not be complete without some homemade gravy.

It was really nice to enjoy a good meal, fine company and a pretty table on a lovely summer evening.
