Part Two…Thrift Store Finds

Welcome, Friends, to the Blog today. I’m so glad you’re joining me. There are so many things to share with you and I can’t wait. Today’s Blog is Part Two of last week’s thrift store finds. Last week I shared with you some “Art” finds that were pretty cool. This week I’m sharing some practical finds and there are some great items in this haul.

Let’s begin with the Noritake dishes made especially in Ireland. The pattern is called, “Ivy Lane”. I found a few of these late last summer at an estate sale and when I saw this set I knew I had to have them to complete the pieces from last year. This beautiful ivy pattern circles the bottom of the plates. A simple green border circles the rim. The set came with eight dinner, eight salad, eight bowls, four small bowls and eight cups and saucers. This china is microwave and dishwasher safe which is nice for every day or even special occasion dishes.

All the important information is located on the bottom of each piece. The big surprise for me was the cost. The entire set of dinnerware was $18.00. Honestly, the plates don’t even have knife marks. It’s as if they were never used.

Next was this heavy bundt pan in a pretty classic design. I use bundt pans a lot when I bake. I find it the easiest kind of cake to make and they always turn out. My most recent effort was a lemon, blueberry bundt that was delicious. Choosing a very heavy duty bundt pan makes all the difference in how the cake turns out. This one was only a couple of dollars.

Bowls are wonderful and I use them all the time when I cook. I especially like the larger bowls with pouring spouts. I really have enough but when I saw this one, that was absolutely pristine, I couldn’t resist. The $4 price tag made it easy to put into my cart. The bowl is by Pfaltzgraff in the “Naturewood” pattern. The bowl is solid green inside. Very pretty. Somehow, if you cooking with lovely dishes the food turns out better…I hope. LOL

Found this really pretty 7″ vase that is Capri Crystal made in Italia, beautiful Italian crystal with a lovely design. This size vase is really useful for displays as well as centerpieces.

This last section is all about textiles. The first two items are table runners. The white one is 100% cotton and will work pretty much year round. The second one is in a nice Fall plaid. Both are in really excellent condition. Next are a set of four placemats with a reindeer motif for the holiday season. They are by Better Homes and Gardens and are quite striking.
Then the last items are three sets of napkins by Williams-Sonoma. Each one is in excellent condition. The last set had the tags still attached so basically brand new. I love the owl napkins and can see using them in a lovely forest-style table setting. The deep blue napkins are quite striking and the white, navy, and yellow napkins will go beautifully with placemats and tablecloths I already have. Such a fun shop.
The runners were $2 each, the place mats 75 cents each and the napkins were 75 cents each. It was a good day.
I always love looking when thrifting but it’s so much more fun to find some beautiful choices to bring home. However, just so you know, it’s not always a successful day. Went to three estate sales this week and came home with nothing. You just never know so don’t be discouraged. those great finds are out there.

Wow – everything here is such a score. I especially love the linens – owls are my thing. (:
Thanks, Gina, I was really pleased with the linen finds. I love using cloth napkins, etc. for the table and finding them at thrift store prices makes it so affordable. Thanks for sharing.

You always find the best linens. Napkins are my weakness. Yours are so pretty, look brand new, and were a great price.
Thanks, Jan, I was lucky to find them and all at the same time. Sometimes it just works out. Thanks for sharing.

While reading this blog entry, I realized that I never look at linens when I go to Goodwill. I always head straight for the tableware. I’m not even sure where the linens are! You always find such beautiful and clean linens – do you leave it behind if it has a stain, or do you take it and try to get it out at home? Next time I go thrifting, I will try my luck with linens – if I find them!
I’m fortunate to have a Goodwill that gets some nice linen donations, Elena. I don’t take anything home that is stained as you’re never sure if the stain will come out. Most things are donated because people are cleaning out or tired of them so I find them in great condition. It’s definitely worth a look. Happy hunting.

Those owl napkins are so cute! I’m sure you will have the perfect everything to go with them later this year!

Thanks, Marsha, I loved the owls too. My daughter thought they would be perfect for a Harry Potter table setting around Hallowe’en. We’ll see. I was thinking more forest. What do you think? Have a great week.

Of course you have woodland plates to compliment the napkins. I have the owl napkin rings (white porcelain) that I used once for Halloween before I made the skeleton ones. I don’t have woodland plates but I do have bird plates. And of course you know I’m all about the linen which was a GREAT haul for you this time!
I’d love to see your Owl napkin rings, Robin. It was a great linen bonanza. I do love tablecloths and napkins. LOL. Have a lovely week.
