Quick Trip to Yorktown

We have been on this whirlwind trip with three days of wedding celebrations (more to come later this week on that). We took a few hours to visit Yorktown and the Riverwalk there. It was a lovely day with partial sun and cool air perfect for walking. York Town is a mix of beach town with some industry surrounding it. This picture is a view of the bridge with a very cool sailing vessel in view.

Interesting patterns are created with vegetation from the river. The water was really calm with only a light breeze disturbing the surface..

We ate at this great Pub and had a wonderful lunch that reminded us so much of eating crab cakes in Maryland where we used to live.

This crab cake sandwich was the best. It was preceded by a bowl of seafood gumbo. It was truly delicious. The pub was a very busy place mostly frequented by locals. We would definitely go there again.

Flower beds bordered the river walk adding some gorgeous greens and purples to the scene.

I couldn’t resist taking a picture of some driftwood. This was a bit big to bring home.

Everywhere there were beautiful views of the river that flowed peacefully by.

The underside of the bridge provided some interesting architectural features.

It was fun to take a few hours and enjoy a peaceful walk by the river and a delicious lunch before making our way back home. Thanks for sharing this with me.

That looks lovely!
Thanks, Joanne, we had a wonderful trip. Have a great week.

What state is Yorktown in, for us Canadians please ?
Hi Kimberly. Yorktown is just a few miles from Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. There is a lot to see in that area but we just had a fleeting visit. Have a wonderful week and thanks for visiting.

This looks like a beautiful day, Lynne! I loved the shot of the lambs’ ears with the salvia. I am debating adding lambs’ ears to my garden as it tends to overrun things. But, it’s such a beautiful plant! Thanks for sharing your day!

I have a lot of lamb’s ear in my garden and use it primarily as a border. It works really well for that. I love the texture of the leaves. Hope you get to plant some soon.
