On the Road

Welcome to the blog today, Friends!
We’re on an exciting road trip from South Carolina to Virginia to attend a family wedding. It’s been a while since we’ve ventured across several states, and I’m once again amazed by the beauty that surrounds us. The landscape is diverse and breathtaking, and every stop brings new sights and experiences.
What truly stands out on this journey, though, are the wonderful people we encounter along the way. It’s heartwarming to be reminded of the kindness and hospitality that abound in our country.

We spent the night at the Three Sisters Bed and Breakfast in Clarksville, Va. It’s a lovely 26 acre property. It was a women’s school for over 30 years in the late 1800’s and is a registered historic site. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean with original wood floors, fireplaces and updated baths.

There are resident chickens that roam the property freely and breakfast is served with a Dutch flair.

Before dinner, we made a pit stop at a local brewery for a “pint” and found ourselves captivated by a lively game of Corn Hole. The participants were having a blast, and the atmosphere was so welcoming that anyone could jump in and join the fun. It was wonderful to see such a diverse crowd, with families, singles, and folks of all ages laughing and enjoying the beautiful evening together. The energy was infectious, and the happy faces all around made it a moment to remember!

We had dinner at the Bridgewater Bar and Grill recommended by our host.

I had the Creole Catfish and it was delicious. The sauce was really tasty and the fish was served over parmesan potatoes with shrimp and vegetables.

My Husband had the crab cakes which were served with parmesan mashed potatoes, asparagus and remoulade sauce. They were very like the crab cakes we enjoyed when we lived near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

After dinner we enjoyed the views, walked the bridge and watched the sun setting over the water.

An old shack caught my attention. It was close to the water and seemed from another era. We really enjoyed our stay inn Clarksville and are looking forward to the rest of our trip. I’ll have pictures of the wedding later this week.

I leave you with a view of the bridge over the water. thanks for joining me.

Have a wonderful time away and thanks for sharing your venture with us!!!
