…From an Estate Sale

At a recent Estate Sale I found these wonderful English plates…they look as good as the day they were made. Welcome, Friends, it’s lovely that you’re here today. Estate sales are such fun and can be a treasure trove of wonderful finds. The plates above must have been kept in a place away from the light as there is no fading. The colors are bright and in beautiful condition. I was able to purchase six dinner plates and 7 salad/dessert plates. There was also another dinner plate and dessert plate in a different pattern that blended with the other plates.
You can see my pointers for Estate Sale shopping here:
It was at one of the sales mentioned above that I found these plates. What I like best about them is that they are before patterns were reissued to be dishwasher safe.

I’m setting a table with these lovely dishes to show you how they can be used in a table setting. Above you can see an embroidered napkin. It’s quite old so goes right along with the china. I placed it between the dinner and salad plates to offer some visual separation.

I started the table setting with this cozy tablecloth reminiscent of cottage days.

Next I added a glass charger with just a hint of green. It doesn’t cover the tablecloth but adds just a touch of color to the table.

“Spring Garden” by International Silver from 1949 fits right in with the cottage look and the nostalgic feel of the china.

Added to the silerplate are the crystal glasses. The wine glass is “Kingsley” by Mikasa. The water glass is “Heritage Clear” by Fostoria. Both these glasses are beautiful cut glass pieces that really enhance the overall look of the table.

The centerpiece is a cut glass vase filled with cottage flowers…roses, mums, azalea and others in multiple colors that remind me of a beautiful garden filled with colorful flowers.

I love using pieces I’ve acquired at Thrift Stores and Estate Sales to create beautiful settings. It’s like rescuing them from a life of obscurity. Recycling tableware is a great way to do your bit for the environment.

Estate Sales can be a wonderful way to find some beautiful pieces at reasonable prices. Sometimes you can come across some beautiful china pieces that evoke an older time. You can share these pieces with others and give them a whole new life.

Absolutely stunning! I love all the colors from the English plates to the floral tablecloth to your centerpiece. I’ll have to tell my husband when I find more dishes that I’m just doing my part to help the environment.
Saving the environment is definitely a good reason to add more plates to your collection LOL. Happy you liked the tablescape. The English plates were in super condition which is rarely the case. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

Lynne, this may be my favorite table of all time! I love that really old silver pattern added to the old plate settings. It’s just amazing what you find and how you combine them.

Thanks, Marsha, I really love that vintage look. Somehow thins seem softer and cozier when brought together. This one came together easily and the plates are in really beautiful shape. That for sharing. Have a lovely week.

The vintage Meakin plates are lovely. I have a mix/match of similar bread plates. There’s just enough white in the tablecloth to keep the design from being too busy. I don’t recall the glass chargers, though. Did you have a post showing their color against a white tablecloth?
Thanks, Robin, I love the Meakin plates and these are in great condition. I think I posted the glass chargers in a thrifting post from a couple of weeks ago. It was a group item post. thanks so much for visiting today and sharing. Always a pleasure.
