First March Thrift

It’s the first Thrift Store shop in March and I am so happy you are joining me as we explore these finds together. It’s mostly kitchen and glassware this time as well as one rather large Spring wreath. So, grab your favorite beverage and relax as we go through these finds.

The first pieces were actually found by my Daughter when she was out thrifting this past Saturday morning. She found a beautiful Shannon Crystal pitcher and set of ice cream or iced tea glasses that match. They were all marked with the Shanon Crystal sticker. However, if there is no sticker you can generally tell good crystal by the weight and the precision of the cuts comprising the cut glass. The cuts will be sharp and create multiple facets in the crystal. These are quite lovely. Shannon crystal is not as expensive as Waterford but it is a good quality crystal.

Next are some yellow deep dish Ironstone plates. I bought these for two reasons. The first is because I’ve been looking for some yellow dishes for awhile and these are attractive and well made. The second reason is that they were really inexpensive about $1 per plate in a half off sale at a local Thrift Store. You can see that the maker is Independence Ironstone.

The second set of dishes I picked up are made in Staffordshire England by Churchill. It is a newer plate since they are dishwasher safe but they are still quite lovely and in my favorite blue and white color combination. These come from an Estate Sale and were a little more expensive than the others at $2 per plate. The Estate Sale was offering a 30% discount. I picked up four plates.

At the same sale I picked up four of these double-handled soup bowls with a turkey motif called “Thanksgiving” by Queen’s. They are really cute but I was going to pass at $4 each and then they offered another dollar off. I was still hesitating but had them in my box just in case and took the time to look them up. I found out that they were selling on line for about $120.00 per bowl. I decided to go ahead and purchase them. They are really sweet and will look great on the table around Thanksgiving.

I found two really nice sets of napkins. One in a red and white pattern and the other in a floral pattern with a stripe on the other side.

I also found black and white checked placemats that look brand new. I have lots of black and white and these will be a nice addition to the ones I have.

Lastly, I found a very large wreath for the front door that will work well this Spring. The wreath is black, white and yellow and focuses on “Bees”. These very hard working insects are welcomed to my garden each year. I plant lots of flowers that will attract bees and encourage pollination of my garden. It was a fun find for $4. When it’s on the door I’ll snap a picture and post it on the Blog.

Thanks for joining me today for this exploration of some recent finds. Hope your next thrifting adventure is a great one.
