First March Thrift

It’s the first Thrift Store shop in March and I am so happy you are joining me as we explore these finds together. It’s mostly kitchen and glassware this time as well as one rather large Spring wreath. So, grab your favorite beverage and relax as we go through these finds.

The first pieces were actually found by my Daughter when she was out thrifting this past Saturday morning. She found a beautiful Shannon Crystal pitcher and set of ice cream or iced tea glasses that match. They were all marked with the Shanon Crystal sticker. However, if there is no sticker you can generally tell good crystal by the weight and the precision of the cuts comprising the cut glass. The cuts will be sharp and create multiple facets in the crystal. These are quite lovely. Shannon crystal is not as expensive as Waterford but it is a good quality crystal.

Next are some yellow deep dish Ironstone plates. I bought these for two reasons. The first is because I’ve been looking for some yellow dishes for awhile and these are attractive and well made. The second reason is that they were really inexpensive about $1 per plate in a half off sale at a local Thrift Store. You can see that the maker is Independence Ironstone.

The second set of dishes I picked up are made in Staffordshire England by Churchill. It is a newer plate since they are dishwasher safe but they are still quite lovely and in my favorite blue and white color combination. These come from an Estate Sale and were a little more expensive than the others at $2 per plate. The Estate Sale was offering a 30% discount. I picked up four plates.

At the same sale I picked up four of these double-handled soup bowls with a turkey motif called “Thanksgiving” by Queen’s. They are really cute but I was going to pass at $4 each and then they offered another dollar off. I was still hesitating but had them in my box just in case and took the time to look them up. I found out that they were selling on line for about $120.00 per bowl. I decided to go ahead and purchase them. They are really sweet and will look great on the table around Thanksgiving.

I found two really nice sets of napkins. One in a red and white pattern and the other in a floral pattern with a stripe on the other side.

I also found black and white checked placemats that look brand new. I have lots of black and white and these will be a nice addition to the ones I have.

Lastly, I found a very large wreath for the front door that will work well this Spring. The wreath is black, white and yellow and focuses on “Bees”. These very hard working insects are welcomed to my garden each year. I plant lots of flowers that will attract bees and encourage pollination of my garden. It was a fun find for $4. When it’s on the door I’ll snap a picture and post it on the Blog.
Thanks for joining me today for this exploration of some recent finds. Hope your next thrifting adventure is a great one.

Great finds! It will be fun to see how you use them!!
Thanks, Pam, it’s a fun problem to have. Appreciate the visit today. Have a lovely week.

Many beautiful finds but my favorite is the wreath. It will be such a welcoming look to hang on your door. The reversible print napkins and the red white ones are a great addition to your table linens.
Thanks, Jan. I thought the wreath was fun and cheerful and I love those hard working bees. You can’t have enough napkins…but I probably do. LOL So nice of you to stop by and share. Have a great week.

You found such beautiful things, Lynne! I used to have several pieces of the Staffordshire china. But, when we moved from up north, I gave them to my brother. They were my mom’s, and he had some pieces so I gave him what I had to make a more cohesive set. Those yellow plates will be so versatile with all your napkins and other plates and chargers. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much, Marsha, It’s so nice to add to a collection and these finds worked in really well. Your Brother is lucky to have such a good Sister. Family treasures are to be cherished and it’s lovely when they can be shared. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

Great finds! Won’t leftover turkey soup taste fantastic in those turkey bowls!!! Those yellow dishes are so cheerful and will be great for soup or a salad (with hard boiled egg slices or a nice rich cheese)?!? If we used cloth napkins, I would have a stash, too; I usually buy them to resell in my booth; have been known to make great pillows with 2 sewn back to back, too!
Thanks, Kathy, I loved everything in this thrift. The wreath is now on my front door. The soup bowls were a great find. Great idea for the napkins. Happy you stopped by and shared. Have a great week.

Oh the blue and white plates – I love those! I can’t wait to see what you do with all your other wonderful finds too. Thanks for sharing the fun!
Thanks, Barbara, blue and white is a definite favorite. Creating the perfect tablescape is a “tad” bit harder. LOL. Thanks for visiting and have a lovely week.

Oh, those turkey cream soup bowls!! What a find! I have a complete set of that dishware for my Thanksgiving table, in the multicolor and the brown, with lots of pieces, even a tureen, but I only have 2 of these bowls! I slowly found all my pieces at Marshalls or TJ Maxx many years ago, and sadly, they are never in stores any longer, only online for (as you saw) very high prices. As usual, you have the “Thrifters Luck” of all time!!
Thanks, Elena, I imagine your table looks beautiful at Thanksgiving. My husband usually goes with me when I visit Estate Sales or Thrift Stores. He is the “King” of researching china, crystal, etc. on the spot. He makes it so much easier to decide if a price is reasonable or not. thanks for visiting and sharing. Have a lovely week.

Great finds! That wreath is adorable. 🙂 Thank you for sharing at The Crazy Little Lovebirds link party #28.
Thanks, Stephanie, you site is a favorite. I appreciate all the work you do. Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

My favorite thrifted items from your haul are the cream soup bowls. Also, hoping that the yellow plates are only crazed on the underside & not on top!
The soup bowls were a great find, Robin, and the yellow plates are perfect on the food side, fortunately. Waiting until the weather is a little warmer before I use them. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week.
