Thrift Store Throw Refurbish

Welcome to the Blog, Friends, as I share with you how I took a throw that had been tossed aside and made it beautiful and useful again. I buy linens fairly frequently at Thrift Stores. It’s important to examine the piece carefully to make sure it is not stained or ripped and that it can be laundered effectively.

This particular throw is by Vince Camuto and is a beautiful soft pink color and wonderfully soft. The throw sells on line for $75 and I purchased this one for .75 cents. I think it was so inexpensive because the throw had pulled threads all over it and a very tangled fringe. I think someone had machine washed and dried it with a load and that caused the threads to pull. I rewashed the throw to make sure it was clean before beginning to fix it.

I tried to take a picture of all the pulls but they really didn’t show up too well. There were large sections of thread pulled out all over the throw on both sides so it was quite a wreck.

You can see here that the throw is now all smooth and the fringe is really nice. It was not a difficult fix but required some time and patience.

After untying the fringe on both sides I used a yarn needle to loop under the individual piece of yarn and pull it gently until the loop disappears. I kept working each pull to the bottom of the throw and then gently pulled it into the fringe. I pulled loops all over the throw until it was nice and smooth on both sides.

Next I retied the fringe by grouping 8 pieces of yarn together to form each knot. Now the throw looks like it did when it was originally sold.

The throw is lovely and I am using it in my Great Room. It picks up the pinks in the rug and the pillows on the sofa and looks comfy and cozy…perfect for a cold winter’s day.

Add a pretty bunch of flowers into the foreground and you have a lovely setting where the throw fits right in. A nice find for .75 cents.
