January Thrift

It’s the first Thrift Store outing in January and I’m so excited that you are here to share this with me. Welcome to the Blog today, Friends, as we go on a small but fun little “shop”.
I was out picking up a few things form the grocery store and decided to stop in at my local Thrift Store for a quick look around. They had a 75% Christmas sale going on so I took a quick look.

I was so excited to find these three graduated feather Christmas trees in a deep rose/light Burgundy color. They were stacked one inside the other on the shelf and I didn’t realize there were three of them until I took them down to examine. The feathers are in great condition and the trees are very full. The peaks are bare of feathers and I don’t know if that was by design. In any case, a star can go on the top and it will look wonderful. The large tree was originally $40 and cost $1.37. The smallest tree was originally $20 and cost 88 cents and the middle tree was originally $30 and cost $1. A great find at some really nice prices.

The second Christmas item was this set of snowman napkin rings. I thought they were very sweet and were under a dollar. I loved the carrot noses. These could certainly be used in a Winter table setting as well.

This metal basket was also in the Christmas section as it had a Christmas bow attached. The bow was not very attractive so I removed it before taking this picture but the original tag was still attached as you can see above. This ended up costing less than a dollar.

My Hubby wanted this cookbook which is apparently highly rated for it’s Italian recipes. We’ll give a few of them a try over the next months. They certainly sound yummy.

This last item is a lithograph printed on canvas. I think the images are pretty well known. If you like cats, its quite appealing.
All-in-all a pretty good day for a one stop shop. Thanks for stopping by and joining me. Hope your next Thrift Store outing is a good one.

Those trees could also be used in fall decor or Halloween
You are absolutely correct, Susan, what great ideas. I will definitely keep that in mind for later this year. Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Have a wonderful week.

Those napkin rings and trees are cute! I bought a lot of stuff from estate sales in December, some of which I used for my own Christmas decor, but packed it away to sell next year (maybe, lol). December is a hard month to buy, everything gets so cluttered with the holidays, but I think I’m finally caught up. Some good deals to be had though!
It seems like January is a great month for thrifting. People bring in Christmas stuff they have decided not to keep and clean out getting ready for the new year. Makes it a fun time to shop. December, I agree, is a tough month. Can’t wait to see your 2024 displays at your booth. Have a great week.

I loved your finds. Those feather trees will make a nice vignette on their own or mingle in with your trees! And snowmen are good all winter! I have seen slotted tall baskets called olive baskets so I’m assuming yours is a takeoff on those. Copper is supposed to be “in” again but never has been out at my house! I got 90% off Halloween/fall treasures at a non-local Goodwill this week. The new leftover costumes will go to my daughter’s school’s dress up box!
Sounds like you had a good week thrifting, Kathy. This time of year has some good buys. Kids love costumes and it’s nice that you help stock the dress up box. Have a great week and thanks for sharing.

Oh, those feather trees are fabulous! I know you will create something wonderful with them. You could even use them at Valentine’s! I made the orzo chicken dish tonight, and it was a hit even though I didn’t have any cherry tomatoes. I’m not sure how I left them off my list. I think they probably add a hint of brightness to the dish.
Have a wonderful week, Lynne!

So glad you tried the dish, Marsha. The tomatoes do add a bit of brightness and acidity to the dish but I’m all for making it your own with what you have on hand. The trees are fun and will appear, I hope, in 2024 home decor. Thanks for stopping by and sharing.

It does look like a good day of shopping. I think I like the cats best and my cat Henry agrees. 🙂
The cats are a favorite, Donna. I gave them to my daughter for her gallery wall. Glad Henry liked it.
