End of November Thrift

Welcome Everyone to the Blog today. I’m so happy you’re here. I have a Goodwill Thrift Store shop and a couple of items from a local Thrift Store to share with you today. The last one for November. Can you believe December is just a couple of days away? You can see in the picture above some of the items. At the front of the red rattan tray are two Mikasa candlesticks. They are shaped like stars and really pretty. They will be perfect for the holidays and for Winter settings. Both of these items are from a local Thrift Store not far from my home. You’ll be seeing the tray in an upcoming Blog.

The red tray is square and quite large with pretty handles woven into the rattan. Here you can see a Spode French Press in the popular Christmas Tree pattern. It’s always nice to have some extra pieces for a pattern you collect. this Spode pattern has been available for many years and is still quite popular. There are lots of imitations out there but you can tell Spode by the maker’s mark on the bottom of the piece and Spode is the only one with the Santa at the top of the tree.

I was really fortunate to find eight wine glasses in this Mikasa pattern called, Old Dublin. They are in perfect condition. They are a Goodwill item and washed up beautifully. The cut glass design is beautiful and distinctive. It really reflects the light and will look beautiful on the table. The glasses were about $2 a piece. A fantastic buy as they sell for about $34 each.

I found a ingle Waterford Iced Tea Glass in the Lismore pattern. I don’t usually buy a pattern with only one glass but Lismore is very popular and has been around a long time. I’m hopeful we’ll find a few more.

Found this set of four beautiful woven placemats. They had the original tags and clearly had not been used before. I love the grey and white color, perfect for the winter months. They were $1 a piece and originally sold for $8 each.

These great plates by Johnson Bros of England came in a set of four. I love the ribbon and flower border in soft colors and the 8 sides to each plate. A dark green border edges each of the plates and frames the flowered border nicely. So pretty. Can’t wait to use them in a table setting in the warmer months.

Lastly, this wonderful stainless steel cheese slicer was found, sealed, in the original packaging and stocked by Bed Bath and Beyond. Love how this looks…so sleek and modern. It was $3 and sells for round $30. Some nice finds today and things that are both beautiful and practical. Some might even make great gifts.
Thanks so much for joining me today for this pre-Christmasy shop. Wishing you luck on your next thrifting adventure.

That cheese slicer would make a lovely hostess gift–along with a chunk of sharp cheddar! Not being a purist, I would use the coffee press for hot chocolate and serve it with some sweet goodies on a cold day! You always find such great treasures!
Hi, Kathy, I use the French presses primarily for tea. Not a purist either. It always surprises me when I find brand new, never used items at the Thrift Store. Great for us. Have a great week.

Do you ever wonder about the backstory behind your thrifted items? I mean finding a brand new, in the box and sealed cheese slicer while thrifting. Do you suppose it was an unwanted gift of some kind, and the receiver just finally worked up the nerve to get rid of it? I suppose an entire series of tv shows could be written, right?
I have always liked that Spode Christmas pattern. I once picked up two complete Christmas servings for 8 on clearance for my daughter and daughter-in-law. I also had an old set from Target that I gave to my youngest son. There’s something magical about Christmas dinnerware.
You definitely found wonderful things on this last thrift in November!

I am always inventing stories about the items I find. where did they come from, who used them, why did they end up in a thrift Store. If they could only talk, we would learn so much about how people lived. The Spode pattern is one of my favorites, in fact, my Christmas tablescape coming out Tues. features Spode. I have kept all my Christmas dishes even though I don’t use some of them anymore but the memories are so wound with the dishes I can’t bear to let them go….someday. LOL. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by and sharing.

Oh my gosh, great haul! A bit of everything of great quality & manufacturer. I never knew a Spode french press was made. How unusual. I’ve seen the Mikasa candlesticks several times up here. I think I’m finished buying this type (I have an elegant sufficiency as my MIL used to say)!
It was a good day, Robin. A little bit of everything. Candlesticks are kind of irresistible but I have probably reached my llimit without getting rid of some I already have. LOL Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Have a great week.
