Thrifting Candleholders

Welcome, Everyone, to the Blog today. So sorry I didn’t publish my usual schedule this past week. Unfortunately, I was quite ill and really unable to do anything but lie in bed or on the sofa. So back to normal, I hope, today.

One of the first things I think I bought at a Thrift Store was a pair of candleholders and I’ve been buying them ever since. Candlesticks are a wonderful purchase…useful, attractive, and come in every style so it’s pretty easy to find something to fit in with your decor.

You can find them in graduated sizes and a variety of materials like the ones in the pictures above. The three graduated wooden candlesticks with metal embellishments hold pillar candles while the wrought iron candlesticks hold regular taper candles. Graduated candlesticks are particularly nice for large displays.

I like candelabra that are a bit unusual like the wrought iron one above with three glass globes that hold pillar candles. It definitely will make a statement on your table.

I also look for mercury glass candlesticks. They are great additions to the holiday season and add a little extra sparkle to the display. The candlesticks above all hold different sized candles so when grouped together make an interesting look. They also look fantastic on their own on a winter’s night agains a window pane reflecting the dark night sky and the flickering candlelight.

Sometimes I run across candlesticks that work on the floor beside a fireplace or to enhance a particular theme. The ones in the picture above are all wrought iron bases of various heights. All hold pillar candles and all have interesting shapes.

Crystal candlesticks are very collectible and mostly come in pairs. I have several sets from very traditional to very modern (not shown in this picture). The type of candlestick you use can determine the feeling your table or vignette conveys.

This is a more casual setting with shabby chic candlesticks, chunky pillar candles, and a throw mixed in for some texture.

Switching the candlesticks to crystal with a more formal table runner completely changes the mood and the feel even though everything else remains the same. If I had used silver candlesticks the mood would be different again.

It’s quite fun to experiment with different candlesticks and candles to create different moods and the cost is low since you bought them at the Thrift Store.
