Blue and White Fall Tablescape
Welcome to the Blog today, Friends. I’m so happy you’re here to share this blue and white combination for a Fall tablescape. Blue and white is always in style and always a good choice for a table setting. I’ll show you how this one came together.
I chose the tablecloth first…a beautiful paisley cloth in blue and white. The overall pattern is quite busy with a tight pattern of flowers and scrollwork. A simple white charger in porcelain by Fortessa begins the plate stack.
Next comes this beautiful blue and white dinner plate called, “Gay Day” by Wood & Sons of England. Love the pattern of flowers scattered across the entire plate. Notice the scalloped edges that make the plate look like a flowerhead.
I added a very modern Villeroy & Bosch “Wave” salad/dessert plate. It adds some movement and contrast to the plate stack.
The final piece is a bread and butter scalloped plate in the same pattern as the dinner plate. Blue, white, blue white, blue…from the top down makes for a simple but effective plate stack.
The silver-plated flatware and napkin ring are also pretty elaborate but work with the other patterns on the table. The napkin is quite simple by contrast giving a bit of a rest for the eyes.
Simple forms are present in the crystal glasses…one with a blue stem and one with a blue bowl. They add a touch of elegance to the table and are restful amid all the patterning.
The table is not complete without a beautiful centerpiece. This one is a composite of various flower arrangements around the house. I often will cut down stems as the flowers age. This gives them a longer life and allows me to use them in different vases. I love how these colors all come together to create one vibrant bouquet. Even though the colors are so diverse they somehow work together to create a beautiful display.
Here’s an overview of the table. You can see that, even though, the patterns are busy the interspersing of plain white dishes brings a sense of harmony. The beautiful colors in the centerpiece act as a focal point for the setting.
Looking across the table to the garden brings the outdoors in.

This is so beautiful. I just saw it as I was signing up to Linda’s party. I love putting patterns together and you have done a wonderful job on your table. It really caught my eye as I have three pieces of Gay Day. I also found them at a thrift store but I wasn’t as lucky as you. I use mine as wall decorations but to have enough to set a table must be heaven. Thanks for sharing them with us..xxoJudy
