Small Thrift Store Haul in April
I haven’t been thrifting too much lately and when I’ve gone haven’t found a lot of interesting things. Welcome, Friends, to a small Thrift Store Haul that I’ll share with you. The first and probably most valuable find is this water color of Venice painted by Detlev Nitschke a German post war contemporary painter born in 1945. This is a work that is pretty typical. It is quite colorful and depicts an everyday scene that he probably would have witnessed. It was a nice find for under $5. I’m planning to mat and frame it and then hang it with some other watercolors we have of Italy.
This seemed to be garden week at the Thrift Store for me and most of the things I found I’ll be using with plants. Love the resting little angel that will make a great addition to the garden. It’s nice to have a few sculptured pieces for interest.
Here’s a closer look. It’s in pretty good shape so I think it will fit right in.
Also found this great frog. He’s a little worn but somehow that makes him more appealing. He has a broad grin on his face and is obviously pretty laid back. Just the thing for a flower bed.
I’m always looking for great containers and this one was in super shape. The paint is even new so I don’t have to do a thing to it.
Also found this great blue pot. Can’t wait to fill it with something special. Blue and white is a definite favorite and the green accents are very nice.
Last, but not least, is this green chopping board. I didn’t know that commercial kitchens often have color-coded cutting boards that are only used for specific items. Green ones are for fruits and vegetables. This one was still in its original packaging and measures 18″ x 24″ so quite large. It will be a nice addition to my prep area in the kitchen.
So, not a lot, but some interesting things. You just never know what you’re going to find. Happy Thrifting!

Look each morning to see your finds. Wish you were a neighbor so we could shop together. My neighbors are not into thrifting like I am. Husband says where is that going. Picked up some great china and crystal through the years. Keep up the GOOD shopping. Lilly

The watercolor is definitely an awesome find! I recently went to a flea market and spent way too much time and way too much money lol. Here via Grandma’s House.

I would love to have a thrifting buddy. I use to find lots of pretty teacup and saucers. But I seem to get more books. I have found lots of pretty prints and framed artwork too..I think I Need a trip to the thrift store. You have some terrific finds. The frog and angel are perect for the garden. I watch my grandson’s two little ones occasioanlly and the diva likes to be clean but she is a rough and tumble girl too so I like extra clothing . Her brother is older now and he like t shirts with MIndcraft and other video games. But in the past I have found lots of outerwear for him too. Always nice to visit and see what you are up to. Going thru old unread e-mails and had to see what you’d found for treasures; I’m glad we CAN’T shop together caz we’d squabble over who saw what first. I used to shop with a very short friend. I used to think she saw different stuff caz she was short. Turned out different stuff appealed to her than me!
I think that’s the trick. You have to shop seriously with Friends whose taste is a bit different from yours but who can offer an honest opinion. Happy you stopped by.
