Chintz china patterns, flowered napkins and Battenburg lace tablecloths all say Spring to me. Today I’m using some recently thrifted items to welcome Spring. It’s been a long Winter and Spring is finally here. Welcome to the Blog today, Friends, as I share this Spring table setting with you.

I’ll start with the elements of the centerpiece. I decided not to use flowers and opted for a beautiful Basil plant in a colorful floral planter. It sits next to these really lovely bunnies gifted by a Friend. I do love these bunnies. Easter eggs are gathered in a crystal bowl and are the third element of the centerpiece. I like the shabby chic quality of the eggs that pick-up the colors in the planter. The three pieces make a nice grouping in the center of the table.

The centerpiece is surrounded by an outline of lace providing a natural ring around the bunnies.

Moving out from the center you can see the plate stack that rests on a silver tin charger. I used the Johnson Bros. set that I picked up last week. The flowered border is very Spring-like and really brings to mind an English garden. It is ringed by a pink edging that travels around the dinner plate, salad/dessert plate and bowl. I like how the three pieces look together. Each piece has a ruffled edging that really flows nicely. There is enough white showing that the flowered edges are not overwhelming.

A flowered napkin shaped into a rose sits on the side of the plate pulling out the colors in the china and in the eggs held in the crystal bowl.

Silver-plate in a simple American Chippendale pattern adds some additional interest to the table without detracting from the china.

Two different Mikasa glasses in very minimalist crystal designs compliment the setting. One of the bowls of the glasses is rounded and one square. Both add a slightly more modern look to the table. The new and the old blend well together.

Each place setting has a view of the center and across the table to the other settings. Guests will be able to converse freely from around the table.

An overview of the table allows you to see the green of the glass table top showing through the lace. This table setting didn’t need a lot of extras. All the elements worked together to provide interest and space for the diners.

Now that Spring is here it’s nice to consider using herbs in your tablescapes. This Basil plant is so green and healthy and the fragrance really stirs the appetite. I’m definitely cooking something with Basil for this dinner.
