Recently I shared some newly found thrifted treasures with you\u2014and oh, what fun that was! Today, I thought it would be lovely to show you how I used one of those finds to create a playful blue and white tablescape. There\u2019s just something timeless and fresh about that color combination, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I\u2019m out thrifting, I always keep an eye out for pieces that will blend into my collection\u2014especially in my favorite color palettes. This week\u2019s star? The sweetest set of Mickey Mouse plates from England that practically leapt into my cart!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s how I pulled everything together to set a cheerful table that brings a little whimsy to the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since I knew blue would be the main color on the table, I headed out to the garden to gather a few blooms that would tie in with the theme while adding a cheerful pop of color. There\u2019s something so satisfying about clipping fresh flowers right from the yard, especially when they\u2019re destined for a pretty tablescape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrangement found its home in a lovely thrifted cut crystal vase\u2014one of those timeless pieces that catches the light just so and adds a bit of sparkle to the table. I gathered hydrangeas in a mix of soft blues and purples, some happy little daisies and cone flowers for contrast, and right in the center, a single yellow calla lily that draws the eye with its sunny glow. To round everything out, I tucked in some delicate white yarrow and a few stems of white and green coleus. Together, they created a loose, natural bouquet that feels like a little garden moment brought indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s talk about the plate stack\u2014one of my favorite parts of setting a table! For this setting, I leaned fully into the soothing beauty of blue and white. It all begins with a round, woven white placemat, a simple but textured foundation resting on a pale blue tablecloth that sets a serene tone for the entire table. Both were thrifted, of course\u2014such happy finds that work beautifully together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dinner plate might look familiar\u2014it was one of the treasures I shared with you in last week\u2019s post. With its blended blue edges and those charming dark Mickey Mouse ears, it\u2019s the perfect blend of whimsy and tradition to anchor this blue and white theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Layered above it is another English beauty, this one adorned with scattered blue and white flowers across the surface. It brings just the right touch of garden elegance to the stack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to finish things off, the bread and butter plate adds a playful twist\u2014a cheerful polka dot design in blue and white from none other than Villeroy & Boch. I love how the different patterns work together without competing, creating a harmonious, tranquil setting that invites you to linger over a lovely meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every piece on this table\u2014from the plates to the linens\u2014was thrifted, which makes it all the more special. There\u2019s a certain joy in mixing and matching these finds to create something uniquely beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add a little whimsy to the table\u2014and a touch of fun\u2014I tucked in a few origami surprises. Each place setting features a pewter napkin ring dressed up with an origami surprise. In the picture above you can see the blue dragon. I simply attached the paper dragon to the napkin ring and slipped in the napkin\u2014easy as can be, but such a conversation starter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dragons were inspired by our recent movie outing\u2014we went to see How to Train Your Dragon<\/em> and had the best time. It was such a charming film, full of adventure and heart, and I thought it would be fun to nod to that experience with a little dragon magic at the table. Between the origami and the cheerful Mickey Mouse plates, the whole setting feels playful and welcoming\u2014a little storybook moment captured in blue and white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the glassware, I chose a lovely bubbled glass water goblet with a soft blue bowl that picks up the tones in the china beautifully. It has such a charming, old-world feel\u2014like something you’d find tucked away in a cottage cupboard, just waiting to be rediscovered.The wine glass is a recent treasure I mentioned in last week\u2019s post\u2014a thrifted gem with just the right touch of elegance. I do love mixing and matching glassware. Combining different shapes and styles adds depth and character to the table, making it feel more collected than curated. It\u2019s one of those simple tricks that makes a table setting truly your own.Of course, both glasses were thrifted\u2014a little reminder that beauty doesn\u2019t have to come with a big price tag.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stainless steel flatware might look familiar\u2014I’ve shared it with you before as a favorite thrifted find from just a couple of months ago. It\u2019s quickly become one of my go-to patterns because it\u2019s so wonderfully versatile. The clean lines and classic design make it easy to dress up for a more formal table or keep things casual and relaxed, like today\u2019s setting.For this table, the simplicity of the flatware really lets the colors and playful details shine, while still adding that lovely touch of polish. It\u2019s always a joy to find something that feels timeless and fits so seamlessly into a variety of looks\u2014and even more satisfying when it’s discovered on a thrifting adventure!<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To bring in a little glow and draw the eye to the centerpiece, I added a pair of Lenox dappled blue candles\u2014such a pretty shade that echoes the deeper blues in the plate stack. They’re set in Mikasa cut glass candle holders, which add a touch of sparkle without overwhelming the setting. I love how the light catches in the glass, especially in the evening when everything softens just a bit.The candles help tie the whole tablescape together, balancing the floral arrangement at the center and adding that gentle flicker that makes a meal feel extra special. In the picture above, you can see how all the elements\u2014china, flowers, glassware, and even a whimsical dragon or two\u2014come together to create a relaxed and cheerful table. It’s a setting meant to be enjoyed, full of small delights and thrifted charm.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s an overhead look at the finished table\u2014don\u2019t you just love how all the shades of blue come together? The floral centerpiece anchors the setting so nicely, and those playful napkin rings with their little origami dragons add just the right dash of personality and color. I was really pleased with how it all came together\u2014fresh, fun, and full of thrifted charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I\u2019m out thrifting, I always try to keep my current collection in mind. Will this new piece blend with what I already have? Do the colors harmonize? Could it help create a whole new look? Asking yourself these kinds of questions can make all the difference when you\u2019re choosing d\u00e9cor\u2014and it keeps you from bringing home pieces that don\u2019t quite fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
