Elegant Styling with Thrifted Champagne Flutes

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends.
I’m so glad you stopped by! Today I want to share a sweet little thrift store treasure I came across recently—and offer a fun idea for how you might use a similar piece in your own home.
There’s something just so delightful about the unexpected joy of finding something beautiful tucked away on a dusty shelf. You know that feeling—when your heart does a little happy dance and your mind immediately starts spinning with all the possibilities! Well, that’s exactly what happened to me yesterday when I popped into a local thrift store for “just a quick peek”—famous last words, right?
Within minutes, I spotted something that made me stop in my tracks. It wasn’t flashy or extravagant, but it had that special something—graceful lines, a hint of old-world charm, and the kind of well-loved patina that tells a story. I scooped it up before anyone else could spot it and cradled it in my basket like a rare gem.
And that’s part of the magic of thrifting, isn’t it? The thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction of a great find, and then the creative fun of imagining where it might live in your home or how you might style it with the treasures you already have.
So let’s take a closer look at what I found—and I’ll show you how a little imagination and a few thoughtful touches can turn one small piece into something truly special.

Above you can see these gorgeous Mikasa champagne flutes—an absolute treasure tucked into a lower shelf like they were just waiting patiently to be discovered. Aren’t they beautiful? The cut crystal is in perfect condition, and each glass features a delicate spiral that dances from the foot of the bowl all the way to the rim. That soft curve naturally draws the eye upward, adding a graceful elegance to their silhouette.
The stem is quietly refined—simple and serene—offering just the right balance to the gently swirling bowl. It’s always such a delight to find pieces that blend beauty and practicality, and these glasses certainly do both. Even better, there were six of them! It’s not every day you find a full set like that, especially in such lovely condition.
Now for the best part: each flute was just $2.55, and I happened to have a $5 off coupon tucked into my wallet (hooray for being prepared!). Altogether, the set came to just $10.30. I may have done a little happy dance right there in the aisle.
As with most crystal finds at the thrift store, these had a bit of the usual thrift store “dusty charm.” You know what I mean—slightly clouded, a bit neglected, but full of potential. A good wash in hot, sudsy water works wonders. There’s something deeply satisfying about gently cleaning each piece and watching it come back to life. After a soft rinse and polish, the sparkle returned—and just like that, the flutes were ready for their second act.

To give these lovely Mikasa flutes their moment in the spotlight, I styled them in a sweet little vignette that feels equal parts refined and relaxed. I gathered all six glasses around a sparkling French crystal ice bucket—another thrifted gem—and nestled in a chilled bottle of champagne, just waiting for an occasion to celebrate. The entire arrangement rests on a vintage tin tray that adds a touch of casual charm while still setting off the brilliance of the crystal beautifully.
To ground the setting and add a sense of warmth, I layered in a pair of my Grandmother’s hand-crocheted placemats. These delicate heirlooms provide a soft foundation for the ice bucket and glasses, their fine stitchwork creating the perfect contrast to the clean lines of the crystal. One placemat spills gently over the edge of the tray, softening the metal and adding just a touch of graceful movement—like lace fluttering in a summer breeze.
In front of the glasses, a gorgeous Wedgewood plate in a classic blue and white palette stands ready to hold a selection of chocolates (or maybe a few buttery shortbread cookies if I’m feeling indulgent). I love mixing refined pieces like this with something sweet and simple—it’s such a lovely way to elevate a moment.
Finally, I scattered a handful of fresh rose petals across the tray and let them trail softly onto the countertop. Their soft blush tones and velvety texture bring the whole setting to life, adding a touch of natural beauty and a whisper of romance.

Here you can see how beautifully the ice bucket pairs with the delicate needlework and those soft rose petals. The sparkle of the crystal against the vintage lace, with just a hint of floral romance, creates a scene that feels both thoughtful and welcoming. It’s a gentle reminder that beauty doesn’t have to be grand or expensive—it just takes a little imagination, a few well-loved pieces, and a willingness to play.
This vignette was such fun to create—a little moment of joy styled just for the pleasure of it. Whether it’s set up on a sideboard for a gathering with friends or simply waiting to greet guests with a glass of something bubbly, it brings a sense of occasion to everyday life. And isn’t that what makes a home feel special?

Just beside the tray, I placed a neat stack of linen and lace napkins for the guests—each one pressed and ready to use. These napkins have a timeless beauty, and their soft texture and delicate detail add just the right touch of refinement to the setting. They complement the crystal and lace so effortlessly, tying the whole arrangement together.
A hand-thrown pottery vase nearby holds a loose scattering of roses in full bloom, echoing the petals that spill across the tray. The vase itself is beautifully glazed and embellished with subtle leaves in the same blush tones as the flowers and petals, making it feel as though it belongs perfectly in this moment. I love how it anchors the vignette with a bit of natural grace.
Three of the newly thrifted glasses stand at the ready, circling one side of the champagne bucket. Their presence helps create a feeling of quiet anticipation—like the setting is just waiting for laughter, conversation, and a bit of celebration.

Here’s a closer look at the flowers.

To finish things off, I added a selection of rich chocolates to the Wedgewood dish. There’s just something irresistible about the pairing of fine crystal and a beautiful plate filled with little bites of sweetness. Chocolates go well with just about anything, of course—but there’s something especially lovely about enjoying them with a glass of wine or a bit of bubbly. The flavors play off one another so nicely, creating a quiet little indulgence that feels just right for guests—or even a special moment all to yourself.
The soft gleam of the crystal, the delicate lace, the floral touches, and now the promise of chocolate and champagne… it all comes together to create a small, elegant celebration. Nothing grand or complicated—just thoughtful pieces, gathered with care and styled with heart.

Everything has come together for a lovely gathering of friends and sharing of a good bottle of champagne.

The colors in this little scene even echo the tones of the new rug in the background—soft blush, gentle cream, and just a touch of shimmer from the glass. Don’t you love when everything comes together like that without even trying? It feels as though the pieces were meant to find one another.
It’s been such fun sharing this simple vignette with you—a small moment of beauty centered around those newly thrifted champagne flutes. They may have started as a budget-friendly find, but with a little love and creativity, they’ve become part of a setting that feels timeless and special. I hope it inspires you to gather your own treasures, set a pretty scene, and celebrate the everyday.
Until next time, friends—cheers to making something beautiful out of the little things.

Those flutes are simply stunning…emphasis on the simple. It’s funny how simple sometimes is the most elegant. I love the addition of your grandmother’s crochet work. That takes patience. But, I have to ask…what kind of roses are those? I have two heirloom bushes, but the minute you brush against the blooms, they disintegrate.

Thanks, Marsha, it was a great find. I love how they look and using my Grandmother’s hand work is always special. The roses are Faux but I think they look realistic and use them sometimes, if I don’t have any real flowers handy. Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely week.

But at that price and 6 of them?!? Fabulous find friend. Beyond that I love how you styled them from the lovely sentimental linens to crystal bucket and the Wedgwood dish. I wish I could come over and share some bubbly. 🙂 🍾 XO- MaryJo
