A New Look

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends, I’m so delighted that you are here. We held a yard sale a couple of weeks ago and from the proceeds I was able to purchase a new sofa for the study. I am so excited to share this with you today. The picture above shows the new sofa and how I used some thrifted items to make the room homey as it reflects this beautiful autumn season. I’d love to spend a few minutes together and I’ll show you how I achieved a welcoming feel for this room.

Here’s the bare bones of the room with the new sofa. You can see that the sofa is stream-lined and fits the confines of the space. I’m shopping for a new table now to change from the redder cherry color to something with some golden undertones to better blend with the sofa. However, until then I will blend things so that the red is not the dominant color.

I started with the large straw tray on the table but it seemed a little lonely so I added a runner with some seasonal color to soften the look a bit..

The runner has a bit more gold and dark brown in the coloring and picks up the sofa color and the colors in the paintings on the walls around the sofa. The large flowers in the runner reflect the large blooms in the newly thrifted pillow I added to the sofa.

I placed the runner on the table and then added the straw tray. Next to the tray in a dark metal you can see a newly thrifted item. I fell in love with this when I saw it. It’s a stylized moose that is nice and solid and chunky and makes a statement in it’s dark chocolate metal. He’s really a wonderful addition to this room.

I found this beautiful, embroidered pillow in yellows and deep golds with browns and greens that provide a burst of color while tying the colors in the carpet and the sofa to the paintings on the walls. You can see the beautiful leather of the sofa and its sleek lines. I love how the deep yellows add such a happy note to the scene. It makes me smile. I wanted to add some more of that happy color.

The flowers are the same colors that are picked up in the flower pillow with some additional brightly colored leaves representing the changing seasons. The clear vase sits on several books raising it above the bottom of the tray and making it a more prominent piece in the room. Next to the flowers is a sweet little jug that I found today. It’s really quite lovely and brings more of that chocolate brown into the room.

Here you can see how all the colors pull together to create a warm and inviting room.

When we step back a bit and look at the whole space you can see how it creates an inviting look for this room. I hope friends and family will be comfortable in this bright and cheerful room.

This was the old sofa in this space. I’m really happy with the changes that we made in this room.

Thanks so much for joining me as we took a look at this new space together. I hope you like the new look as much as I do. It’s been great sharing it with you today.
