Four Step Halloween Entranceway

Hello everyone, and welcome to the blog today! I’m so excited to have you here. Can you feel it? Fall is creeping in, and with it, the whispers of Halloween. Decorations are starting to pop up like little secrets waiting to be discovered. I thought it would be fun to share a simple, yet delightfully eerie way to transform your entranceway for the spooky season. The best part? You’ve got plenty of time to weave a little magic before Halloween arrives… if you’re ready.

Start with a clean tabletop and then you are ready for step number one.

Choose a beautiful cloth or a traditional runner in Halloween-inspired tones to set the mood. I went with a linen runner, its border delicately embroidered with light green vines that instantly reminded me of pumpkin patches and their twisting, curling vines. It’s a subtle nod to the season, blending elegance with a touch of Halloween charm.

Step two: use a riser or tray to create a charming display area for your pumpkins. I’ve chosen a wooden riser, handcrafted by my husband, which adds a personal and rustic touch. It’s perfect for showcasing the pumpkins, lifting them just above the tabletop to draw immediate attention. The height not only highlights their eye-catching personality but also adds a bit of dimension to the entire setup, making it feel special and inviting.

Third step: I carefully placed the pumpkins, collected last year and painted in a soft off-white that feels almost ghostly. on the platform. This simple touch draws the colors of the runner into the arrangement, weaving a sense of unity. To add a bit of intrigue, I nestled a whimsical pumpkin figure at the center of the mirror behind the display. Its subtle presence feels like it’s watching over the entrance, blending perfectly with the pumpkins and runner in a slightly spooky way. The pumpkins, though friendly, have a quiet mystery about them, as if they hold a secret waiting to be discovered. And the best part? It took just five minutes to bring this playful display to life.

Step Four: make these pumpkins glow with an inner light. These friendly pumpkins are some of the first warm smiles that greet guests as they step through the front door. I love how simple it was to create this display, yet it leaves such a lasting impression in the entranceway. Thank you so much for joining me today as we brought just a touch of Halloween magic to this space. I hope you’re feeling inspired to add a little festive charm to your own home this season!

This looks lovely Lynne. I love the idea of painting your Jack-o-lanterns white. XO- MJ
Thanks, MaryJo, this was so simple to put together, just a few elements for a big impact. Isn’t Halloween a fun time of year? Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

So adorable! Did you use battery candles? Thank you
Thanks, Lu, I just used votive candles, two per pumpkin to light them from within. I definitely keep an eye on them when the candles are lit. Have a great week.

That is so pretty!
I don’t have an entranceway, but I know I would love to come into a house and see this.

Pumpkins are my downfall! I have so many, but I’m probably not going to put near as many this year. Most of them are stored in tubs in the attic, and I don’t want to bother my sons to come help me get them down. I really do need to figure out a better place to store them (maybe in the unused chest freezer). I like the idea of the board platform to elevate the pumpkins. I use candlesticks and cake platters sometimes. This is such a beautiful way to greet people into your home, Lynne!

Thanks, Marsha. I m trying to simplify my decor this year and shop my home for items to display. Sometimes it’s good to just relax a little with home decor. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by

Love fall and/or Halloween decorating. Let’s me use colours I usually don’t have in my home!!
Halloween is definitely a time you can use black and orange, red and green as much as you want. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

I’ve always loved a white or off-white pumpkin. A nice way to ease into Halloween, Lynne. When I ‘downsized’ the Halloween bin & boxes I only kept the white-ish ones. Still have boat loads of Halloween decor (all manner of skellies) but brought with us so daughter can raid the stash. No trick or treating in the building 🙁 so I think I might need to pare down even more much to my dismay. Halloween is my most favorite holiday.
Halloween is my daughter’s favorite holiday, too. Sounds like your daughter is really going to benefit from your collecting. A lot of churches and community centers here do a Halloween trick or treat for the kids. this happens instead of going door to door. Our neighborhood has literally hundreds of kids every year that are bused in from other areas. Not exactly my idea of a neighborhood Halloween.

Thanks so much for the feature, Barb. You have been really busy and appreciate the time you spend on the link party. Have a great week.
