“Fall is in the Air” Tablescape

Welcome! Welcome to the Blog today, Friends. “If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour.” – Victoria Erickson. There’s something special about Autumn. Temperatures cool and there’s a crispness in the air that energizes. The color palate is vibrant with deep reds, oranges and golds. Crafting a fall table setting becomes a delightful adventure, and sharing this cozy, magical season with all of you feels incredibly special.

Today I’m joining a group of talented ladies as we participate in a “Welcome Fall” Blog Hop. Rita of “Panoply” has worked her magic and brought us all together to share ideas and tips to get our Fall tables off to a great start. The links to these creative ladies are listed at the end of this post. I hope you’ll take a few moments to visit them. You won’t regret it!

This fall tablescape began with decorating the room in warm, rich tones of orange, yellow, and green. As seen in the picture above, an old Winchester gun box with the tray pulled out serves as a unique focal point for the gallery wall. Nestled inside are olive branches and gorgeous fall blooms, creating a lush, inviting display. Adding to the charm, an antique wooden Canada Goose takes center stage, symbolizing the seasonal migration of his cousins from northern climes to winter in our area. The combination of these elements brings a touch of rustic elegance to the room.

It was important to me to bring these same elements to the table.

This table setting starts with a beautiful, rich-colored tablecloth adorned with lovely flowers. The rust background brings a cozy autumn feel to the table, setting the perfect tone for the season. I’ve had this tablecloth for a few years now, and it’s one of my favorite thrift finds—just $2.50, and it fits the table like it was meant to be here.

The next two choices for the table setting felt like a natural fit. I started with a cozy yellow woven placemat I found while thrifting—it really highlights the yellow tones in the tablecloth. Then, I added a beautiful two-toned wooden charger that I picked up at Goodwill just this week. These chargers were such a delightful find, all in perfect condition. My husband gave each one a little love with some food-safe mineral oil, which brought out the wood’s natural warmth. There’s not a scratch or chip on any of them, and they all look just as lovely as the one you see here.

To complete the setting, I brought out my cherished “Evesham” china by Royal Worcester. Most of these plates were Goodwill treasures, with a few added from a recent estate sale. The Goodwill plates were a real steal at only 50 cents each! The delicate gold-bordered rims and detailed fruit illustrations make these plates feel right at home in this Fall tablescape.

The “Evesham” salad/dessert plate was the next addition to the setting. With its beautiful illustrations of Fall fruits and leaves, along with that elegant gold border, it just felt like the right choice. Plus, I really love these dishes, and I think it’s important to use what makes you happy.

The twig flatware is a recent edition. I love the look of the handles and how they resemble twigs that you can pick up next to almost any tree in the Fall. They reflect the gold in the border around the outside of the plates .

Choosing the napkins was a bit of a challenge. I wanted something colorful but not too overpowering to complement the china. After some thought, I decided to combine two different napkins to create a little napkin bouquet. They’re held together by wooden napkin rings in colors that reflect the overall theme. The inner napkin, with its deep yellow hue, adds a bright pop to the setting, while the berries on it blend beautifully with the fruit on the china plates. The outer napkin helps tie together the tablecloth and the fruit colors, making everything feel cohesive. Placed in the center of each plate, these napkin bouquets naturally draw your eye to the centerpiece.

Some of my favorite thrifted crystal stemware by Waterford completes the table setting. These pieces are a bit heavier than I usually go for, but the richer colors of the setting seemed to call for something with a bit more weight. The water goblet is called “Lacey,” and the wine glass is “Brookside.” They add just the right touch of elegance to finish off the table.

That just leaves the centerpiece, which is nestled in a beautiful thrifted wooden bowl adorned with a circlet of stamped metal around the rim. The flowers I chose are typical of Fall, showcasing the deep, rich tones of the season. I kept the centerpiece low so everyone can easily see across the table, making it perfect for enjoying conversation during dinner.

Here you can see an overhead view of the entire table. It definitely speaks to the upcoming season.

Looking across the table, you can catch a glimpse of the gallery wall, where the same warm tones from the table setting are echoed. Shaker boxes, a wooden silhouette of a deer, and a metal deer head all capture the essence of the season. It’s always such fun to bring out old favorites and mix in new vignettes with some treasured thrifted finds.

Original watercolors, chosen for their matching tones, add a special touch to the gallery wall. They’re paired with wrought iron candlesticks and a wooden pumpkin, creating an eclectic autumnal display. The first watercolor has a distinctly southern vibe, while the second captures a mountain scene. I love how they come together to create a diverse look that represents different parts of the country, blending beautifully with the rest of the setting.

It’s been such fun spending time with you today exploring ways to bring Fall to the table and into your home decor. Thanks so much for joining me.
