Vintage in Pink Tablescape

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends. A love of vintage is held by many and today we’re going to look at a vintage table setting with a tablecloth, delicate placemats, vintage china and flatware and some really lovely vintage crystal glasses. So pour a cup of your favorite beverage and come along with me is we explore a “Vintage in Pink” table setting.

There’s something so lovely about a crocheted table napkin. The needle work arts are still being done but they were a staple of life in my Grandmother’s time. I have some of her crocheted table items that I keep in a special fabric roller so they stay pristine. these napkins are a recent find and have that lovely nostalgic look to them. they paired beautifully with the vintage transfer ware plates from England.

These were both super finds at estate sales and thrift stores. The china is so pretty with the lovely floral pattern on the dinner plate. the salad/dessert plate is of Penshurst Place in Kent. It is one of the great estates in England and commemorated in this piece of china. They work together well to add so much color and design to the table setting. I was fortunate to find them in excellent condition and I am careful to keep them in good condition.
The napkin rests between the dinner and salad plates giving a respite for the eyes and a break from all the pink. LOL

Beautiful silver-plated flatware by International with flowers etched in to the handles of the silverware is a simple accompaniment to the somewhat busy china. This was also a thrift store find and probably cost under $10. The pattern is called, “Spring Garden” and is from the 1940’s.
You can also see the linen, embroidered placemat that reflects the simplicity of the silver-plate. The scalloped edges repeat the scallops in the dinner plate. The embroidery is so sweet it brings back the feeling of times past.

I chose crystal patterns that reflected an older time period. They seem to belong in a cottage garden, in a cozy little house where homemade dandelion wine would be served as a special beverage to accompany dinner. I love the flower patterns that cover the bowls of the glasses. Even though they are not the same the feeling of the glass is similar. They add to the vintage vibe of the table setting.

I created a centerpiece to reflect the nostalgic feeling of the table setting by collecting a nosegay of garden flowers in a simple glass pitcher. they flowers are flanked by shoe crystal candlesticks boasting soft pink candles. The trio sits on a matching placemat with it’s lovely embroidery defining the central area of the table.

When all the elements are put together we have a wonderfully vintage table setting. Pink and white are the guiding colors with a splash of multiple colors in the nosegay of flowers in the center of the table. This delicate table setting will be great for tea, or a ladies luncheon. Can’t you just picture some of your best women friends sitting here sharing their recent adventures as they sip a glass of wine.
The menu would include poached chicken in wine sauce with a lovely wild rice and vegetable medley. A sorbet or fresh fruit would also be on the menu. You could begin with a fresh greens salad and homemade rolls piping hot from the oven. I can’t think of a nicer way to entertain best friends.

The older I get the more I realize that it is the simple pleasures that matter most…family, friends, good times and spent together while we share moments of our busy lives with those we love best. Time passes so quickly. It’s experiences that make up the total of our lives. Creating meaningful times together is something we should aspire to do.

It didn’t take you long to set a beautiful table with your new found linens! The embroidered placemats, the crocheted napkins, and vintage china and crystal create a beautiful table. Love the dusty rose and white color scheme with your pretty garden flowers. Lucky lady friends who get to enjoy this setting and your delicious sounding menu.
I had this table setting in mind as soon as I found the placemats and napkins, Jan. It is quite pretty but shows up a little dark in the photos. You would be welcome at the table any time. Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely week.

I knew you would create something amazing with those new linens, but I honestly didn’t expect something this beautiful. I love the pink china…I don’t think I’ve ever seen that kind of china in pink. I would love some scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam, please!

I think in my set of 12 bread plates in red transferware patterns I may have one from Crown Ducal. I love the wide embossed rims of their plates. It’s hard to find china from this maker that is not crazed. A very pretty table.
Thanks, Robin, I was surprised to find the china in such good condition. It’s a pleasure to set a table with it and enjoy the vintage feel. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

The vintage plates are beautiful, and they are in such good condition. They do remind me of my grandmother’s dishes, although none have survived. My great aunts made beautiful doilies from tatting and crocheting, so I know what you mean about the needlework on the napkins.
Thanks, Leslie, my Grandmother did all sorts of needlework and her creations were beautiful. I still have some and use them for special occasions. I think many of us have a fondness for vintage tableware. It is really pretty. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week.
