Latest Thrifting Adventure

Hey there, lovely readers! I’m thrilled to have you join me today for a delightful dive into the world of thrifting, with a special focus on “Things for the Table.” Picture this: discovering charming pieces from various shops that come together like pieces of a puzzle to create a table setting that’s as inviting as a warm hug. So, kick off your shoes, pour yourself a cuppa, and let’s embark on this adventure together!

Guess what I stumbled upon first? A real gem from Crate and Barrel – a tablecloth that practically sings with nostalgia! At first glance, I thought it was a vintage treasure, mirroring one from my childhood with its charming apples, cherries, and that classic blue border. Memories flooded back of my family’s kitchen where I grew up. This retro beauty was in such fantastic shape, I couldn’t resist bringing it home to grace my own table. I’m already dreaming up a delightful table setting with this cloth. What would you think about creating a picnic around the tablecloth?

I hit the jackpot with napkin rings on this thrifting adventure! Picture this: two sets of four green napkin rings, one set in wood and the other in porcelain, for just one dollar. But wait, it gets even better! I stumbled upon a set of four wooden napkin rings shaped like African animals. They’re quirky and delightful, adding a playful vibe to my table. Now, imagine these treasures resting on a set of four lively green placemats, jazzed up with splashes of orange and white. It’s a fiesta of colors and shapes that’s just begging to be shown off!

Can you believe the luck I had with napkins? I found two sets at different shops that are like long-lost twins – they just go together like peas in a pod! And get this, they somehow magically match the placemats I snagged on the same shopping spree. It’s like they were all destined to meet on my table! This is the kind of fun that makes thrifting so addictive!

Imagine a charming tableau on your table: two different napkins held together by an adorable animal napkin ring. The greens, oranges, and creams blend together beautifully, complementing the complimentary placemats. It’s a simple yet delightful touch that adds a bit of whimsy to your meal.

Check out this awesome find: a wooden cutlery box with compartments labeled for spoon, knife, and fork! It’s like a treasure chest for your table, adding a touch of rustic charm that’s perfect for any casual gathering. I can already picture it blending beautifully with the placemats and napkins, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. And how cute would it be with the retro tablecloth? It’s the kind of piece that makes setting the table feel like a delightful adventure!

Raise a glass to this fabulous find: four wine glasses by Waterford from their “Marquis” line! Despite being from the lower line, these glasses are the real deal, exuding elegance and charm. Not only are they stunning with their intricate cut patterns and pretty stems, but they’re also practical, standing strong and steady on your table. Imagine the joy of sipping your favorite wine from these beauties, adding a touch of sophistication to any gathering. Here’s to finding treasures that make every toast extra special!
Thanks so much for joining me on this thrifting adventure. Can’t wait to show you how I put these treasures to use. Have a terrific week land successful outings to the Thrift Store.

What treasures you found! Not much more satisfying than a successful thrift day. 🙂 I have one of Mom’s old dish towels that looks a lot like the tablecloth, love it! And the cutlery box is just my kind of thing! Have fun with it all.
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing. The tablecloth pattern must have been really popular because a lot of people seem to remember it. I’m trying out the cutlery box as we speak. Have a great week.

I could have sworn that was a vintage tablecloth! It reminds me of ones my aunt and grandma used to have. My mom was never one for tablecloths! How lucky to discover not only the napkin rings but the napkins that coordinate! Just amazing! Thanks for sharing these!

I don’t think you were excited one little bit, Lynne. LOLOLOL (such bubbling exhuberance)! That was a great coordinated thrifting surprise. I have 12 carved animal napkin rings like this. They are the first items I ever purchased at the Dallas furnishings mart back in the early 1970’s. My mom also bought a set.
Not even a little bit. LOL. Every item carries memories. It’s fun to learn about all those remembrances. Thanks for sharing.

You always find such great treasures. When I went to a Christian church camp in the mid 60’s as a teenager, I bought several small African carved animals; natives who had become Christians were shunned by their tribes and they earned a living carving these figures! I am reminded every time I see similar ones. I thought the tablecloth was vintage, too; my grandmother had similar ones!
I wondered about the origin of the napkin rings, Kathy, maybe they came from a similar source. Seems like the tablecloth was very popular when we were growing up. Brings back lots of good memories. Thanks for sharing.
