Biscuits and Jam…Anyone?

Gather ’round, my friends, as I share a little secret with you—I have a bit of a weakness for crystal. Okay, maybe more than a bit—I might have a tad too much, but who can resist the allure of cut crystal? The way it catches and reflects both natural and electric light, casting a magical sparkle across the table, is simply enchanting. Today, I stumbled upon a new treasure at an Estate Sale, and I couldn’t wait to show it to y’all. There’s something so delightful about sharing these discoveries, don’t you think? So, grab your favorite beverage, get comfy, and join me as we delve into the world of crystal, one sparkling facet at a time.
I’m excited to share with you three new crystal pieces I recently brought home. The largest one is a “Biscuit Jar,” which is meant to hold biscuits or cookies, perfect for enjoying with a cup of tea in the afternoon. There’s something so comforting and relaxing about the tradition of having a sweet treat with your tea, isn’t there? It’s a small, but special way to unwind and treat yourself in the midst of a busy day. I can’t wait to fill this jar with delicious goodies and share a cozy afternoon tea with y’all.

This second piece is called a jam or jelly jar…another accompaniment to tea or breakfast. This delightful jar is the perfect companion for your afternoon tea or breakfast, meant to be filled with homemade jams or jellies. or perhaps honey. Picture it paired with freshly baked scones or toast, elevating these simple delights to a whole new level of deliciousness. The beauty of crystal always adds an elegant touch to any table, making even the simplest of meals feel like a special occasion.

The smaller piece is also a jam or jelly jar. It is a charming piece and so delicate looking. Can’t you picture it filled with a bright strawberry or raspberry jam. the rich red color will be stunning through the multi-faceted crystal.

I’m eager to learn more about these exquisite crystal jars. Whether they turn out to be Waterford or not, (fingers crossed) their beauty is undeniable and adds a touch of elegance to any home. I can already envision us enjoying a delightful tea surrounded by the charm of these finds. Until then, may your week be filled with joy and warmth. Can’t wait to chat with you again soon!

These pieces are so elegant, and I’m sure you will use them for a multitude of purposes. I will cross my fingers for you that they’re Waterford!

I also love crystal, and I have not ever seen anything like your exquisite find. If British in origin, one of the ‘canisters’, may have been for clotted cream, or Devon cream, which would be used with the jam or jelly.,or marmalade is more enjoyed than jam even.
Kim
I hadn’t thought a bout clotted cream, Kimberly. It would work well in one of the smaller jars. Thanks for the suggestion. Have a wonderful week.

These are three gorgeous items! I know they were initially used as dining pieces, but I enjoy displaying my jars in my bathroom. They make beautiful holders for cotton balls and such.
That’s a great use for things like biscuit and jam jars. I have seen that in the houses of friends. Thanks for the suggestion and for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

I immediately thought of raspberry jam when I saw those jars! Here in Maine, I am partial to blueberry preserves, too; and I think the colors of rubies and sapphires on your table would be loverly at teatime with a warm scone!
Sounds delightful, Kathy. I really have to get into the kitchen and make some scones soon. Thanks for the suggestion of using raspberry and blueberry jam together on the table. It would be stunning. Have a great week.

Nice finds! I have one like your largest, just a little different lid, found at an estate sale several years ago. It still had a label on it, made in Poland. I’ve put everything from marbles, to sea glass to candy in mine. Very versatile!
I love these jars, Rita, and thanks for the suggestions for using them. They are such a good size for holding almost anything. found another one this past weekend that was a Waterford “lismore” pattern. It is really beautiful. thanks for stopping by and sharing. Have a great week.

I love love glass jars, and often find myself just collecting them and having no idea what to do with them other than stuffing them with wooden spoons. I love that it seems as though there are others out there with my same obsession! Great stuff!
Thanks, Christina, you are definitely not alone. I think it’s okay to have things just because they are beautiful. Have a great week and thanks for sharing.

I have all of these, Lynne! I also have an (unlidded) pink Depression glass biscuit barrel that does double-duty as a centerpiece with a small potted plant. My mom also has 3 Waterford biscuit jars (holding Jolly Rancher candy, and cotton balls & Qtips in the bathroom). So I will have more than plenty to use. I use the smaller ones for jam, jelly, honey, & lemon curd. How about elegant ketchup, chutney, or other relish in them? P.S. I just thrifted a pair of short candlewick candle holders to coordinate with my pair of Boopies.
Great ideas and a good score on the candle holders. I will be looking for more biscuit jars this year. I’d like one more for the counter to hold cookies and treats. thanks for stopping by and sharing. Have a lovely week.
