Around the Garden

Welcome, Friends! I’m so excited to share a little piece of my world with you. One of my absolute favorite things about early spring is capturing the beauty of the season through my camera lens. The rich purples, pinks, and vibrant yellows that start to bloom bring such joy after the dreary days of winter. Today, I took some photos of my garden to share with you. The plants are beginning to bloom, and I can already harvest lettuce and herbs for the kitchen. The air is filled with the delightful fragrance of spring. So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, get cozy, and join me for a virtual tour of my early spring garden. I hope these photos bring a little bit of the beauty and freshness of spring into your day!
In the photo above, the vibrant variegated purples of the early blooming lilac take center stage, radiating their sweet fragrance throughout the garden. Is there anything more delightful than the scent of lilac bushes in full bloom? In the background, a carpet of blooming pink phlox adds a soft, inviting touch. The green leaves of the lilac serve as the perfect backdrop, making the colors of spring truly “pop.”

Lady Banks roses are blooming both in the front and back garden. Their vivid yellow petals are just beginning to unfurl, adding a sunny and cheerful vibe to the landscape. What makes these roses even more charming is their vining nature and the fact that they are thornless, making them not only beautiful but also easy to work with. Their multiple blooms are delicate and pretty, adding a touch of elegance to the garden. How can you not fall in love with them?

Another early bloomer in the garden is this “snowball” bush also called viburnum. These blossoms start their journey in a delightful shade of lime green, gradually transforming into a pristine Snow White. I’ve already brought some of these exquisite blooms inside, where they now reside in a vase alongside some basil. The combination is not only visually appealing but also seems to create a happy pairing, with the basil adding a fresh aroma to the mix.

It’s such a joy to be able to bring flowers from my garden indoors to enjoy. I really miss that during the winter and it lifts my spirits each spring when the garden starts to bloom once again.

I’ll leave you with this image of the rock garden coming back to life. The deep pink phlox tumbles over the rocks, creating a cascade of color that trails towards the bottom. Amidst this vibrant display, the rosemary is sending out new shoots, filling the air with its wonderful fragrance as you brush by. These blooms, returning year after year, are a symbol of hope and the continuity of life. They remind us that no matter what challenges we face, there is always the promise of renewal and growth. Thank you for sharing in this moment of beauty and reflection with me. Until next time, may your days be filled with the beauty of nature’s wonders!

Oh, I am in Heaven looking at these beautiful blossoms! I am hoping we can get to Asheville to the Biltmore before too many of the spring blooms are gone. I love lilacs, but we have never had any luck growing them. My phlox are looking a little green even though I had to cover them against a frost last week! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful space, Lynne!

Thanks, Marsha. Biltmore is on our list in the next few weeks as well. Love the gardens and the conservatory which always has stunning blooms. The Chihuly exhibit opens soon, too and that should be spectacular. My Iris are also beginning to show signs of stirring. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week.

We are in California and just moved to a new house. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the person who previously owned the house and put in all the bulbs and flowering plants. I unearthed some rose plants-long neglected-and I now have full sized bushes. The wonderful discovery of all of these plants that just arrived liked the fairies planted them has given me such delight. We enjoy plants now, but they are a gift to the future. Thank you for sharing yours, that rock wall is the best!
Thanks, Alison, sounds like you landed in a gardener’s haven. Bringing a garden back to life is such a satisfying work. Every plant is a discovery. Enjoy your garden and enjoy bringing it back to its formal glory. Have a wonderful week.

These are all such lovely blooms! I wish I had a lilac bush in our yard; for whatever reason they do not seem to do well in our soil.
I have really had to “baby” the lilac. It’s not happy in the higher heat of SC but I love the blossoms so I talk to the plant and encourage it to bloom. We’ve had a lot of rain this spring and I think that has helped. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely week.

Such beautiful photos of stunning flowers. Thank you for sharing your garden with us.
My pleasure, Lisa, so happy you stopped by. Have a wonderful week.
Lynne
thank you
My pleasure.

So many early blooming plants! The flowers are lovely.
Thanks, Carole. Having flowers bloom a little earlier is one of the best reasons to live further south. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Oh, I am so envious. We usually can count on lilacs in Maine blooming for Memorial Day. We got 8-10″ of snow and ice over the weekend–covering my dafs, day lilies, and tulips which had started coming up. Dunno where all the too early-bird robins are sheltering! It is winter here again–darn!
The weather is really bouncing from hot to cold this year, Kathy. Getting so much snow right now imust be so hard but it can’t last much longer. Wishing you sunnier days really soon.

Lovely garden, beautiful photography! I envy you your lilacs. I miss their sweet scent. Unfortunately they do not grow here in north GA.
I’m not far from you, Sandra, and the climate is not especially friendly to lilacs…too hot. This one doesn’t grow quickly but it is tenacious. It is a little bit of “Home” in the spring. Thanks for visiting.

Wow, your garden is a lot more advanced than mine (London, UK) – we won’t see lilacs and roses until next month. I love both of those! I don’t have a lilac, but a neighbour has a lilac tree and I like to stand under it to smell the scent. I’d love to see you join my link-up tomorrow. I found your post via the Happy Heart and Home link up.
Thanks for the invite, Gail. I’ve visited England and the gardens are gorgeous. Your cooler weather is so welcoming for plants like lilacs. Thanks for visiting, hope to see you again soon.

I have such a hard time with flowers, they are so needy! However, I have found a flower even I can not kill despite digging up the bulb. Tulips. It just astounds me how I can grow these guys but nothing else, like daisies or peonies. LOL This is a lovely post, and I love the deep pink phlox, I have successfully grown rosemary in my indoor garden so later this season I when I transplant them into the garden I may steel this idea from you! Love it!
You are more than welcome to the idea. I love gardening and having fresh flowers is such a blessing. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your rosemary. Have a great week.

These are beautiful blooms! These picture are making me jealous. I have about 1″ tall tulip leaves coming up, and that’s about it. It’s too early in the season here for any flowers. Thanks for linking up at Happy Hearts & Homes, I hope to see you again this week.
Thanks, Lyndsey, I love this time of year and Spring has come especially early this year. Have been buying lots of plants but frost is predicted for tonight and tomorrow night so I have to bring them all in. Hope you have some lovely blooms soon. Have a great week.
Lynne
Thanks so much for the feature. It’s always a pleasure to post on your site.
