Tea with Spring Flowers

Welcome to the blog today, Friends, we’re having tea with beautiful fresh blooms from the garden. I am so happy you are here to share this with me. Hyacinths and daffodils are blooming and I brought them indoors for a little garden sunshine. The fragrance of hyacinths perfumes the air and blends with the delightful aroma of Earl Grey Tea. It’s a lovely respite from the stress of everyday life.

I gathered the blooms in a simple Rosenthal vase and combined them with a few lamb’s ear leaves. the textures are quite lovely together…pink and yellow are such happy colors.

A simple blueberry muffin with melted butter is served on a Noritake, “Barrymore”, plate.

A matching cup and saucer are used for the tea service. One of my English stoneware teapots with a cream and sugar complement the cups and saucers. That first pour of steeped liquid is so soothing.

Add a little milk in the English tradition to the cup and you have a wonderful beverage to drink as you relax and enjoy your muffin.

The library is a great spot to begin to plan a trip to Florence while enjoying a respite in the day.

Embroidered napkins add to the idea of a luxurious break. If you have lovely china and silver, I think you should use it and not save it for company. It’s important to take some special time for yourself, maybe sharing that time with another. Brew a pot of tea, heat up a muffin and bask in a beautiful setting. Washing a couple of dishes seems a small price to pay for such a peaceful interlude.

Hope you are able to take a little time during your busy day to enjoy your favorite beverage.

Those are some beautiful blooms!
Thanks, Joanne, it’s so nice to be able to take flowers from the garden again. Have a great week.

Very pretty, Lynne. Tulips are in our grocery stores now (no daffys). Loved Florence (need to finish that city, though!)
Thanks, Robin, when spring flowers are starting to appear in the grocery store the season is definitely getting closer. Florence is a wonderful city that we are going to revisit next year. Have a great week.

I agree; use the china. My sister has told me, “Use your china, the Queen is not coming.”
I needed the reminder
to enjoy my special dinnerware and napkins. Thank you. I love your post
Thanks, Karen, beautiful things should be used and not stored away from view. that way you can really enjoy them. thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

I relaxed just reading this post! I envy you your flowers already. Maine is months behind. I don’t mind admitting I am sick of winter and it has been very mild this year! I can’t remember the last time I had a cuppa. I should do it more often!!!
Thanks, Kathy, tea is my go-to relaxation drink. It has been a mild winter. Maybe that makes us even more anxious for Spring. Have a wonderful week and thanks for sharing.

This is one of the most beautiful posts ever, Lynne! It’s so true that we should use our best things now. I don’t have any good china so I don’t have to worry about that. But, I do display my “good” things all the time. And, that blueberry muffin looks delicious!

Thanks, Marsha, it’s so nice to have your best things on display or in use and sounds like you do the same. Why have them if you don’t display or use them? the blueberry muffin was good. LOL. Have a wonderful week.

Visiting from ‘Women Living Well After 50.’ Sue linked this post on her blog and I had to come over and check it out. Everything about this is soothing and I especially appreciate your eye for capturing that sentiment in your photographs and accompanying words. I am a Victorian at heart and love to set a pretty table with linens and fresh flowers. Unfortunately, my flowers are always store bought, but lovely just the same.
Thanks so much for visiting, Suzanne, and for sharing your thoughts. The Victorian era had some lovely customs and tea is one of my favorites. Flowers are beautiful and I purchase a lot from the grocery store. I agree that they are all lovely. Have a wonderful week.
