Mid-January Thrift

Welcome to the Blog today, I’m so glad you’re here. Can’t wait to share these latest finds with you. I went to just two Thrift Stores and was able to take advantage of some nice discounts while shopping.

This first find is a very sweet, solid wood children’s chair. As you can see it has been painted and the paint is a bit worn. I love this shabby look that I will be enhancing before using the chair in a vignette. The cost of the chair was a whopping $1.90. There was a second chair, the same price, that was solid looking and in excellent condition but this one had some curved pieces that were more appealing to me.

The next find was a large cutting board. It’s a really nice size and will fit well on my cutting island. Whenever we purchase a cutting board my husband sands both sides with the electric sander to remove any possible residue. Then the board is wiped with mineral oil which is food safe and will make the grain stand out as well as giving the wood some much needed oil. It was about $3.

I found a set of four napkins from Lenox still with the original tags attached. They are a nice plaid which will be great for Winter or for picnic time in the Summer.

Then I found this really pretty runner that has Christmas trees embroidered at each end and a tassel attached to each end. The runner also has a wreath embroidered in the center. The runner is nicely made and should be a beautiful addition to Christmas 2024. The runner was $2.25.

Four Royal Doulton, Lambeth Stoneware plates made their way into the cart. They are in excellent condition and have a lovely raised pattern on the bottom of the plate. They are also dishwasher safe which is a nice bonus. The plates sell for $26 each and I was able to snag them for $1.10 each. A nice find.

The last items are some very pretty salad/dessert plates by Mikasa. The pattern is Holiday Season. I found four of these in perfect condition. They sell for $24.00 per plate and I was able to get them for $.75 each. These were an especially nice find as my everyday china is Mikasa and in the same color. It will pair nicely at the holidays with these plates.
These were great prices and to add to the savings I had enough points at one of the local stores to take another $5 off the bill. Not too shabby.
Hope you all have a wonderful week and good luck on your next thrifting adventure.

Wonderful finds. Looks like burgundy/ gold colors will be featured in one your next Christmas tables with the runner and Mikasa plates.
Thanks, Jan, those colors will certainly be a possibility. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you’re staying nice and warm this week.

I am so jealous of your thrifting finds, each and every one of your “hauls”.
Nothing remotely close in my area. Prices so high, might as well buy new.
I seem to be in a really good area for thrifting, Kimberly. I moved here from a great area as well. I know other parts of the country are not as fortunate in their Thrift Stores. Thanks for stopping by and sharing. Hope you have a great week.

I can’t wait to see what you do with that chair! I love old wooden distressed things. They do have such a unique charm. Your runner is beautiful. I didn’t even realize they were Christmas trees until you pointed it out! And, the dishes are lovely! Good eye!

Thanks, Marsha. I’m struggling a bit with placement for the chair but I’m sure inspiration will strike eventually. LOL. I really like the runner as well. Thanks for stopping by and visiting. Have a wonderful week.

I could just picture that chair holding a big flowering plant (I love begonia bulbs!) on the porch or a shady spot in your yard! The napkins will be great for all patriotic holidays. My faves, though, were the Mikasa Christmas china–so pretty! Great finds!
I think the chair will work really well with flowers. Thanks for sharing ideas and have a wonderful day.
