Can you believe it is almost Thanksgiving? Halloween is a memory as we turn towards the gathering of Friends and Family around a turkey with all the trimmings.

It would be nice to believe that a table setting comes together on the first try. The reality is quite different. Most settings go through several iterations before settling on the final presentation. This one started and finished with the beautiful Battenburg Lace tablecloth. The wonderful cutouts revealing the underlying color of the table became an integral part of the overall design. Plus…it’s really beautiful.

Once the tablecloth was in place it created a natural spot for a very long centerpiece that is banded by beautiful cutouts showing fruits and foliage. I chose a long box that my Hubby made last year. The top of the box is formed by rounded lengths of copper fixed to the wood. I foraged in my garden for bright red leaves and changing berries. There were even a few roses left that I gathered up and included in the centerpiece. The green is from a cypress bush and I scattered a few squash and pumpkins among the foliage. It makes a lovely statement to the changing landscape of Fall.

The plate stack is quite simple…a gold and silver glass charger is first followed by a simple cream dinner plate. The last element is a gorgeous peacock plate I found recently at Goodwill.

The crystal glasses are by Vera Wang and Fitz & Floyd. The copper in the Fitz & Floyd wine glass picks up the copper in the centerpiece drawing the setting together.

Gold and silver flatware and a simple gold napkin ring holding a Battenburg lace napkin pick up the gold in the charger.

Pillar candles on crystal candlesticks flank the centerpiece adding a bit more color to the table.

The rest of the room is decorated for Thanksgiving. Behind the table are two vignettes featuring some Thanksgiving turkeys.

The tea cart holds a cut crystal vase filled with cotton bolls and ivy. A wooden turkey is enjoying the scene next to a turkey filled with offerings from the garden. Three wooden candlesticks hold pillar candles in varying shades of brown and orange. Everything sits on a white embroidered runner.

The Dining Room hutch holds a collection of hand thrown pottery teapots and wooden pillar candlesticks. A bouquet of spray roses in vibrant Fall colors held in a Lenox vase is flanked by two bronze colored turkeys adorned with foliage and flowers from the garden.

I was striving for a simple, elegant table with subtle tones of Fall. I hope the room invites you to sit and stay awhile, enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving meal in the company of Family and Friends.
