Welcome Fall Tray Vignette

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends! I reworked this blog from a couple of years ago to give you a simple addition to your Fall decor.
As you can probably tell, I really enjoy using color in my décor. This particular room is filled with greens and roses and browns with pops of yellow. I decided to put together a tray that would be super easy and would blend in with the colors already in the room.
That’s the beauty of creating a seasonal tray—it doesn’t need to be complicated to make an impact. By echoing the colors already present, the tray feels like a natural extension of the room, adding just a touch of fall without overwhelming the space.
Little seasonal touches like this make a home feel welcoming. They’re easy to put together and can be changed out whenever inspiration strikes. It’s such a simple way to celebrate the season while keeping everything cozy and harmonious.

I started with a silver tray, leaving it just a bit tarnished so it would catch the light with a soft, golden glow. That hint of warmth gave the setting a gentle nod to fall without feeling too polished. To keep the look from becoming overly formal, I added a pottery dish and a pottery vase. Their earthy textures grounded the arrangement, while the greens in each piece blended beautifully—similar enough to harmonize, yet different enough to add quiet interest.

I found these really eye-catching squash in the shape of stars while shopping for produce. Their color and texture were so striking, and the size made them perfect for display. To the group, I added a pumpkin for an extra layer of both color and texture. It’s such an easy arrangement—just one rectangular pottery dish holding three members of the squash family in different shades. To give it a bit of movement, I set the pottery dish diagonally on the silver tray, which makes the whole grouping feel a little more playful and relaxed.

The vase—really a pitcher—is quite a stunning piece. I don’t recall exactly where I found it, but it has been with me for several years and remains a favorite. What I love most are the vines that wrap around the base and travel gracefully to the top in a raised pattern, adding texture and charm. For fall, I filled it with simple red and yellow flowers, the kind you see everywhere this time of year. Their cheerful colors echo the tones already on the tray and extend the seasonal blend beautifully. The height of the pitcher and flowers draws the eye upward, gently connecting the tray arrangement with the rest of the room.

Flanking the arrangement on either side are heavy silver candlesticks, each holding a soft green candle, ready to be lit when evening falls and a glass of red wine is in hand. It doesn’t take much—just a few thoughtfully chosen pieces—to set the mood and create a lovely addition to the room.

The yellow squash and yellow mums echo the sunny yellow of the loveseat just behind the vignette. Even the star-shaped squash plays off the star-shaped flowers in the loveseat’s pattern, pulling the whole look together in such a pleasing way. The tray itself rests on a live-edged coffee table—handmade by my talented hubby—which adds warmth and a touch of artistry to the setting.

This simple arrangement took only a few moments to put together, and it can be moved to a different location with ease. I hope it gives you a few ideas for creating your own seasonal touches at home. Thank you so much for joining me today, Friends—it’s always a joy to share these little inspirations with you. I truly appreciate your visits and hope you’ll stop by again soon as we continue to welcome fall into our homes together.

Looks amazing Lynne! I bought two of the same star shaped gourds a few weeks ago. I thought they were so pretty and I could not wait to use them. Then my son and daughter got a hold of them and they are no longer, as you can imagine. So I am thrilled to see that you used them for your tray! Made me feel better. Pleasure touring with you.
Happy I could help. So sorry your gourds had a different end but I’m sure your children really enjoyed them. Lovely to tour with you.

What a gorgeous room! Your large silver tray is so lovely in that setting. Love the long pottery dish for the gourds, the candlesticks and that wonderful vase. Just beautiful, I want to see more of that amazing room!
Lovely Lynne, your combination of elements is so pretty, and of course my eyes went right to the star squash and that took me right up to the yellow flowers and into your beautiful room! So clever the way your added textures and pieces to tone down the formality of the silver tray. Love the unique pitcher too, and flowers are always so welcoming!

Such a lovely vignette — elegance in simplicity. The size of each element really gives it impact as does tying it all in with the colors of your lovely room. I’m smitten with both the silver tray and candlesticks, beautiful counterpoints to the organic feel of the pitcher and the gourds and pumpkin. Happy to tour with you!
This tray was a pleasure to put together. I’ve enjoyed being on the tour with you. Thanks for the kind words.

This is lovely, and that vase is gorgeous. Goes beautifully with the rest of your vignette. And i love how the different shaped gourds add interest. Love it!
I think the vase was my favorite part. Pottery has such an organic feel and it seemed to be a good fit for the tray. Have a great week.
