We had a gorgeous day today. It was warm and sunny with flowers blooming and birds clustered around the feeders. I even saw a butterfly in the garden. Hard to believe it’s March. The weather is unusually warm but so pretty I had to spend a bit of time outside this afternoon. What better way to celebrate a beautiful day than taking a simple cup of tea in a garden setting.

I started with this gorgeous embroidered tablecloth. The border shows bouquets of lavender with a beautiful scrolled border surrounding the bouquets. I was able to find this tablecloth at a local Thrift Store for about $2.50. Honestly, it’s one of the prettiest ones I’ve seen. It is also completely lined on the other side and hangs nicely because of the weight of the cloth.

A simple glass pitcher of multi-colored flowers picks up the flowers in the garden behind the table. I grouped roses, carnations and snowball viburnum in the bouquet. You can see a simple Lenox teapot on the table with Mikasa cups and saucers. A little bunny has come to share the tea. A pitcher from my English stoneware collection will hold the milk.
I love how the pink in the bouquet of flowers echoes the pink in the flowers in the rock garden behind the table. Such bounty in March should definitely be enjoyed.

What a beautiful post! I drink green tea every afternoon and like to read a good book at the same time. My favorite thing to do is to read on the back patio and listen to the birds and enjoy the garden. Love all the quotes in your post! Happy Spring!

So pretty and peaceful. It is hard to believe it is March. We just had snow here in the foothills of the Rockies and more is predicted.for Friday night. We aren’t complaining because it all helps us ward off forest fires this summer.

Love the embroidered tablecloth. I could almost feel the warmth of that cuppa! Maine has warmed enough to look like mud season; I have some tulips or daffs (ground is too muddy to investigage!) are coming up but everything is still brown and gray. I still don’t want to do anything outside!
