Spring has arrived and I am so grateful to see green shoots bursting skywards in the garden. Welcome, I’m happy you are here today to share this wonderful Spring day with me.
Spring also means I get to dust off my Spring dishes, bringing them out of the cupboard to share with all of you. I have a few little bunnies that have stopped by for a visit and some fresh garden flowers to add to the “Springiness” (is that even a word…LOL) of the table.

I was working in the garden this week, cleaning up the last of the leaves and was delighted to see that my Lady Bank’s roses were in bloom as well as some of the azalea bushes. These are always some of my first plants to flower in the Spring. Lady Bank’s roses are a thornless vining rose that look great on a trellis or a fence. Mine have beautiful clustered yellow roses and bloom for quite awhile in the Spring. Some of the vines were a little exuberant so I cut them back. I brought them inside and decided to use them in my table setting. In the picture above you can see one strand coming from the centerpiece. I added an azalea branch for more color and they show beautifully against the green background of the tablecloth.
Here you can see how the flowers flow diagonally from the centerpiece and frame each place setting in flowering borders. The papa bunny has gifted mama bunny with beautiful azaleas as a token of his love and affection. The bunnies are placed in a nest of white and gold and raised a bit above the table on a pedestal tray trimmed in wood.
The place setting is a mix of some of my favorite china dishes set on a woven Spring placement with butterflies and flowers peeking out along the edge. Wallace “Bee” flatware in silver and gold tones accompany the china.
Above you can see a close-up of the placemat and china. I used a mix of old and new and some very sweet bunny plates. Each plate has a different bunny surrounded by flowers. All the china and crystal in this setting is thrifted. It’s amazing what you can find. The flatware I actually bought…LOL
Here’s a closer look at the flatware. The bees are quite beautiful. I used a simple white, embroidered napkin with scalloped edges to accompany the flatware.
Crystal water and wine glasses with etched glass patterns depicting flowers are added to the setting. The patterns are not the same but they blend together nicely and don’t you just love the stems? They sparkle with light against the flowered background.
More flowers and bunnies with soft pastel colored eggs sit on an embroidered runner beneath the gallery wall. Today we are really “leaping forward” into Spring.
Just like the bunnies, guests are surrounded by a bower of flowers and can truly feel that Spring has arrived.

So pretty! I noticed some crazing on the bottom of the Bristol plate. Is it ok to use crazed china for food? I have my Grandmother’s china and didn’t know if I should use the crazed pieces or not. Thanks for the lovely inspiration 🙂
I looked this up and you should not serve food on the crazed part of a plate. If the crazing is only on the underside of the plate, it seems you can use it to serve food. Generally, if the plates are very old and delicate I just use them for show. Great question. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Spring, Lynne! What a delightful table you have created with your pretty pieces. I am a big fan of etched glassware. My eye goes to it first everytime.Your sweet bunny plates with different bunnies on each plate look so nice on top of the vintage Crown Ducal plates. Your thrifting is truly a wonderland, Lynne. All the elements you’ve used to create the plate stack and settings are finds that a good eye caught. That centerpiece couple of bunnies is so cute. But it’s the real flowers you were able to pull from your early spring garden chores that really make this table sing, in my opinion. How fabulous that must be to have that option. My garden is still so young (and not as large & varied) will still be a while before I can clip and use inside. Lynne, just as Rita said, your thrifting is truly a wonderland. The Lady Banks roses caught my eye immediately. We grew them on an arbor for years until strong winds blew arbor and roses down. Last year hubby built a new arbor and planted Lady Banks again. We are seeing blooms this spring which makes me happy. I love the roses and azaleas put together diagonally on your table, so very pretty! The bunnies in the centerpiece are adorable and your plate stack is lovely. The stemware is truly beautiful! Crown Ducal Pink Bristol is a favorite pattern, inherited from my hubby’s grandmother, so pretty layered with your sweet bunny plates at your table! Your bee flatware is favorite too! I love the spring blooms on your table. We had a week of below freezing temperatures after an unseasonably warm winter and I’m afraid the buds on our Lady Banks may have taken a hit, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Lynne, what a beautiful table for spring. Even my untrained thrifting eye can appreciate what a find those Crown Ducal Pink Bristol plates were! Beautiful Lynne! Your Lady Banks roses caught my eye immediately as I am attempting to grow them here in SW Florida in a container. I have rose envy at your table bearing your blooms and your sweet contemporary bunnies clutching the pink azaleas. Thank you for sharing your thrifted plate stack and the bee flatware is a favorite of mine that I received as a gift many years ago. I have used them several times in bee related/themed table settings and yours has shown how versatile the pattern is. Such a lovely table setting to welcome spring! Using the flowering branches to frame each place setting is very cool. Sadly most of the flowering shrubs in my garden got zapped by our recent run of below freezing mornings. . . sigh.. . . but I can enjoy yours vicariously. I don’t decorate with bunnies but I will say that the most joyful and attractive bunny figurine is definitely your centerpiece. Lyrical, comical, whimsical, modern, and shapely are the adjectives I’d use to describe it.

You certainly have made good use of your lovely Spring flowers in your table. To have freshly cut Bank roses and azaleas is the beauty of living where Spring is truly coming early. While the area in Wisconsin in which I live is expecting 7 more inches of snow tonight, I can absolutely appreciate seeing everyone’s table that include cut flowers from their garden. I love your little story of Mr. Bunny honoring his true love by giving her a flower in your precious bunny centerpiece. The couple are so adorable and makes for such a charming centerpiece.
