Sometime in the early part of November Thrift Stores start decorating for Christmas just like the regular retail stores. They bring out ornaments and decorations they may have been storing for awhile. I love when that happens because the opportunity to pick-up great Christmas items has begun in earnest. Welcome to the b/log today, Friends, for a look at November thrifting. I usually take a trip to Home Goods and TJ Max and a few other retail stores to see what they are promoting for Christmas decorations. I look through my inventory of Christmas items and try to figure out what I need to add. This year I decided that I pretty much have what I need. However, when I was thrifting this week that didn’t seem to stop me from picking up a few things.

First, I found this great green and blue tablecloth. I love the combination of colors that can work for any time throughout the year.

Also found this set of four great Valentine napkins. I’ll put these away until needed but they are quite pretty.

These brand new comfy socks still have all the tags and will be perfect for Christmas morning.

These great hand-made wooden candlesticks were made by a local artist. The wood is maple, I think, and they can be used separately or entwined, quite lovely and graceful with the pronounced curves.

I found two additional candlesticks in a heavy, variegated, green metal. They will look wonderful over the holidays with some beautiful pillar candles. They are quite interesting and, did I mention, they are very heavy?LOL

Boos Boards made this lovely cutting board. My hubby will probably give it a light sanding and then oil it with mineral oil to bring back the wood. They sell on line for over $100. We paid about $2.25 so I was quite thrilled with this find. The opposite side is flat so you can use either side in the kitchen or for entertaining.

I’m always looking for storage containers for china and crystal and found this one in perfect condition. I’ve already filled it with some crystal goblets that I want to pack away.

I don’t usually buy black candles but these were really attractive with their flour de lis pattern. They’re from Pier 1 and have never been used.

However, the best find of the day came in the shape of some great ornaments. I collect The Twelve Days of Christmas ornaments and love when I find them at a Thrift Store. The ones above are made from pewter and are also labeled. They were hung on a tree at the front of the Thrift Store. Each ornament was $1.25 an extremely low price for any ornament anymore but especially for some of these.

It was an added bonus to find the ornaments made by Lenox. These sell on-line for $20 to $90 depending on the ornament’s number. The most expensive is the Seven Swans a Swimming. I was so excited to find these. The silver and gold partridge ornament by Dansk sells for about $20. The colorful partridge is by Royal Worcester and also sells for about $20. It was an ornament bonanza.

We usually check out the products they sell and sometimes run across a good find like this one an excellent cabinet cleaner that we got for a couple of dollars instead of $25. Not too bad.

The last find was this jolly “Santa’s Sweets” by Fitz & Floyd. This is a music box and was in excellent condition…no chips or scratches and ready to go.

It was a really fun shopping day with lots of treasures and some practical things as well. Always nice to find a combination of items that can be used in your home. Thanks so much for visiting and I wish you good luck in your next thrifting adventure.

  1. What a great haul! I found the entwined candlesticks best–and I’m not a MCM type at all! Can’t wait to see how you display all of those precious ornaments!

    1. Thanks, Kathy. I’m working at including them in my decor. Love the candlesticks, too. They are a bit different and especially nice since they are artisan made. Thanks for visiting and sharing.

  2. As a native of Louisiana, I would be all over the fleur de lis candles.

Thank you for sharing this on Traffic Jam Weekend! It had the most views during the last link party. Therefore, it is a part of this week’s party features that will go live on Thursday at 5:00 pm CST.
