Hello, Friends, and welcome to the Blog today. Halloween is right around the corner and we are enjoying a late October casual dinner. No fuss and very little preparation. In fact, I put this together in about five minutes.

I started with a Basil plant in a pottery planter made to look like stacked garden books. The colors blend with the placemats, dinner plates and salad/dessert plates. The bread and butter plates go with the vibrant green of the basil.

Here you can see the homemade stick placemats in a dark brown. The dinner plate by Heath is in a soft brown/grey color. The dessert plate by the same maker is in a soft grey.

The bread and butter plate is in black and green and decorated with birds and birdhouses. The napkin matches the green in the plate. Each plate has a lovely ceramic pumpkin to celebrate the season.

The stainless is my everyday Fiddlehead flatware that I bought at Pottery Barn years ago. I still love it and use it frequently. It looks great with any setting and works well in this casual tablescape.

My everyday crystal wine glasses are Mikasa’s, Parklane. They are really lovely and I have had them for many years. I supplement the basic pieces with crystal found at Thrift Stores. The water goblet is another set of crystal that I use frequently for more casual settings.

The colors for this tablescape are a bit unusual but they go well together to create this relaxed setting.

Each place setting has its own unique pumpkin.

Fall is such a great time to enjoy a casual dinner. Hope you get to enjoy a casual meal with family or friends and enjoy this wonderful season.

  1. October in the snap of the finger! I’ve also the twig placemats (just need to find 4 more). I find, however, that sometimes the glassware can ‘roll’ on top i.e. be a bit unsteady.

  2. I like your casual no fuss table. The book planter is so neat and the flatware is beautiful.
