It’s October and I am so ready to celebrate cooler days and nights, crisp Fall breezes and azure blue skies. Wanting to set a colorful table to welcome October sent me looking through cupboards to see what I could gather together for an October tablescape. I’ve been trying to shop my home more lately to use things that I’ve put away and forgotten.
Normally I have flowers in the house but not today so I came up with this pedestal tray loaded with richly colored pumpkins. A pillar candle sits in the middle of the tray and the pumpkins tumble about that center point. They rest on a round, embroidered placemat.
Two different green colored glasses were chosen for wine and water. Although the style is different the shapes are similar and work together to form a pleasing look.
The Pier 1 salad/dessert plates come in a variety of Fall fruits. They are exuberant and bursting with color…just like October.
The plate stack starts with a simple porcelain charger in white. That’s followed by a Villeroy & Boch dinner plate and finally the Pier 1 salad/dessert plate. I like how the colors stand out from the green tablecloth but blend with the centerpiece.
Debate over the napkin…patterned vs. plain…was finally decided on the side of the patterned napkin. I folded it in half lengthwise and simply tied it once in the center. I saw this recently on Pinterest and liked the look. Flared silver-plate sits next to the napkin.
Here’s an overhead view of the table. It makes me feel happy. It’s kind of nice to take the simple act of setting the table and turn it into a welcoming event. It’s especially pleasing to know that everything on the table was thrifted. Autumn is here! Hope you take the time to set a pretty table that reminds you of Fall. Enjoy the season!

Love the coordinated table. The napkins lend a brightness. There’s just enough pale yellow across the various tabletop elements to keep it from looking too heavy.
