A September Thrift

Lots going on in September as everyone goes back to school. I’m teaching a course in “Sacred Ireland” this semester and so have been preparing presentations and notes for that. Of course, there’s Fall clean-up and all the fun of getting out Fall decor. Personal issues have taken up time as well so thrifting has been a lower priority. However, I’m excited to share with you, today, some recent thrifting finds that I think you’ll like. Welcome, Friends, to A September Thrift.

This is the find that tickled me the most. It’s fairly large and made out of metal with a hook in the center to hold a wreath or a sign. Love the sweet face of the penguin and I can just see this being used at Christmas. He was only a couple of dollars and in great shape.

Switching seasons… I found this very cute sign for a Pumpkin Patch. Love the Fall colors and the bold design.

To go with the sign I found these wooden trucks just waiting to be painted to match the sign. I’ll have to look for some very small pumpkins to go in the truck bed. Won’t that make a wonderful Fall vignette?

Next is this very sweet rose crystal fairy paper weight. The image changes as you turn the crystal to catch the light.

Found this great wooden candle holder that can accommodate a lot of candles. It says, “gather around” on the front so would be suitable for Thanksgiving or Christmas or any holiday you choose.

These two woodland animals bordered in black and white check will look great in a forest or hunt setting for the holidays and into Winter.

Two Waterford champagne flutes from the Wedding Heirloom Collection were found at Goodwill. They ended up costing about $1.50 each and sell for about $80 each. It was a great find plus they are really pretty.

These two beautiful wine glasses are “Wellesley Platinum” by Royal Doulton and sell for about $70 per glass. They were just a few dollars at Goodwill. Another nice find since I am a bit of a crystal collector.

The last item is a set of three nested mixing bowls by Le Creuset that are brand new in the original packaging. These originally sold for about $160. They are not being produced anymore. I love mixing bowls and the lovely red color makes it a pleasure to bake. Hope your next Thrifting adventure is fun and successful.
