Another special treat awaits you today as I join with 20 talented and creative bloggers to present a “Welcome Fall Tablescape Blog Hop”. The wonderful Rita of Panoply has put together a fabulous group of ladies to give you so many ideas for decorating your table this Fall. I know you will really enjoy seeing all these wonderful table settings. So pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and get comfortable as you enjoy this great look at Fall.

If you’re visiting from Dinner at Eight didn’t she put together a terrific tablescape. If you are new to the Blog…welcome! I am so excited to share my Fall tablescape with you today.

My Morning Room is ready for Fall with warm colors and a nice casual feel to the table. Along the back wall you can see some wooden pumpkins and wine boxes welcoming the Fall season. The paintings you see are all in Fall colors of browns and reds and depict quiet country gathering spaces that invite you to linger and enjoy.

The jumping off point for this tablescape was the table cloth. A multitude of leaves in Fall reds, oranges, greens and browns on a neutral background set the tone.

The place setting uses a woven red charger as it’s base. A wooden trencher comes next in warm brown tones. Next is the dessert/salad plate in vibrant fall colors that pull together the colors in the table cloth. An Italian soup bowl in red and orange completes the plate stack. Amber flatware wrapped in a beautiful stainless steel design pulls in the oranges in the table cloth and dessert plate.

Here’s a closer look, in the pictures above, of the plate stack. Did you know that trenchers began as three-day old slabs of bread which held your food. After eating the food the bread “trenchers” were given to the poor.

Matching water and wine goblets with a lovely leaf pattern compliment the table setting. These are “Lady Anne” from Gorham.

I found these really sweet, wooden, apple napkin rings in barn red at a Thrift Store a few years ago. I think they make the perfect addition to the table. The napkins are a cotton/linen blend in a pretty green.

The hydrangea and dahlia centerpiece is replaced during dessert by a fruit and cheese tray. The colors are still those of Fall with the shapes adding interest to the table. Both centerpieces feature wooden containers that tie in with the wooden trenchers at the base of the plate stack.

Such fun to play with color and shapes to create a Welcome Fall Tablescape that everyone can relax and enjoy.

The gallery wall is decorated for Fall. A few handmade items are sprinkled in with the mostly Thrift Store finds. I like the eclectic, relaxed look it gives the room. Everything included in the tablescape was thrifted.

  1. Absolutely wonderful. Gorgeous cloth, unique napkin rings and perfect and adorable centerpiece. How inspiring and cozy. Love!

  2. Hi Lynne, your pretty fall plates complement your tablecloth perfectly! Your floral centerpiece is also lovely! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  3. I like how your sideboard coordinates with your table in your morning room. Your centerpiece is pretty, but the charcuterie board is my favorite! ;P
Your plate stack is so unique, and all elements remind me of fall, especially the apple red Italian soup bowls. They are fantastic. You have definitely welcomed fall in your pretty morning room. I like everything about your decor!

  4. You have so many thrifted finds that I bet it’s hard for you to even choose which ones to use for a tablescape, Lynne! But the nice thing is you’ve already put together several tablescapes, and you continue churning them out, to play with the seasons. This is a really nice table setting, and I was not familiar with the use of trenches! The colors are really nice here, and I especially love the flatware and the alternative use of flowers and wine and cheese trays as centerpieces! I love your gallery shelving that allows you to switch things up so easily on the wall behind your morning room table. Very nicely put together. Thanks for joining in the welcome fall blog hop. Happy September!

    1. It’s always a pleasure to participate in a “hop” you’ve put together. I really enjoy working with this deep Fall colors. My Hubby I the one responsible for building the shelving in the Morning Room and he did a great job. Makes it so easy to switch out decor from one season to another. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

  5. Lynne, thank you for sharing your beautiful tableware and linens and creative styling adding wood cutting boards as chargers. Your flatware is swoon-worthy! I especially love the inspiration to use the wine and cheese tray as a centerpiece. That works so well with fall and grape harvest season.

  6. Your table is beautiful Lynne, I love how you coordinated the tablecloth with the plate stacks and floral centerpiece, so many lovely Fall colors and textures~ my favorite element are the Pier 1 plates, love those! I’ve not heard of trenchers before, they are beautiful! So smart to remove the centerpiece to serve the cheese course~ your sideboard looks lovely too, Happy Fall!

  7. Lynne what a beautiful Autumn table setting you have. I like the rustic elements and I didn’t know the story behind the trenchers. So interesting. I hope you are enjoying Autumn or Fall…and it is a pleasure to hop with you.

    1. Thanks, Kari. Always a pleasure to hop with you, too. I think the trenchers date back to Medieval times. I like the rustic look and they are great for cheese and fruit. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  8. Thanks for your educational read. I am partial to your woven red chargers & the flatware (brand?) that I’ve not seen before.

    1. Hi Robin. The chargers are some of my favorites because they are such a large size. The flatware is “France Shine” and the color is steel orange pearl by Domus Design. The flatware is made in Italy. I hadn’t seen it before either. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

  10. Lynne you’ve put together a rich display of Fall colors and textures, just beautiful. The silverware is incredible! I’m always keeping an eye out for silverware when thrifting.

  11. Lynne, your morning room is certainly a welcoming sight. I love the rich earthy colors you have used on the table and around the room. The colors and textures definitely say autumn. Well done! Happy Fall!

  12. Fall has arrived in your Morning Room Lynne! Your fall leaves tablecloth makes the perfect foundation for your table. Love the pretty shape and edges of your poppy plates with their beautiful autumnal colors, Italian soup bowl and amber flatware. The trenchers and woven mats add warmth and texture to anchor your settings. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Happy September!

  13. How interesting to see a trencher and learn about them. Your dahlia and limelight centerpiece is lovely on your beautiful fall tablecloth. Love your plates, flatware, and Italian soup bowls.
    Happy September.

  14. Lynne, your morning room says fall is here. The rich warm colors and that gorgeous tablecloth. The centerpiece is lovely with hydrangea and dahlias. Love that your replace them with a charcuterie board. The poppy plates are so pretty. Love that you decorated your buffet as well. A pleasure joining you.

  15. Beautiful table for fall, Lynne, and replacing the centerpiece with a cheese and fruit tree is such a wonderful idea! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do that before. That’s what I love about your blog – you are so inventive 🙂
Maybe I’m odd, but for me, the bread trench would be hard to part with… LOL
    Happy fall, friend,
    Rachelle

    1. Funny, I thought the same thing about the bread trencher. I’ve found Blogs to be a wonderful way to meet new Friends in a supportive community. Love being a part of it all. Thanks, Rachelle. Happy Fall to you.

    1. Fall colors are such fun to work with and, for me, Fall is also filled with drying herbs and flowers. It’s great to be able to carry the garden into the winter. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  16. I love the deep colors you have chosen for your Time for Fall Tablescape. I usually prefer the deep rich colors like you are displaying. I have to admit I had no idea what a trencher was or of course the story about the old bread. Your plates are so pretty, I love the pattern on them, and your bowls have me dreaming of cooler weather and hot bowls of chili or soup! Happy September!

  17. I really enjoyed your fall table colors and textures! Such lovely combinations! I particularly liked the reds you pulled in for the placemats and napkin rings to emphasize the red poppies in the salad plates. I’ve often admired square-shaped dishes, but didn’t know what to pair them with. The trenchers were a great solution! Thanks for the shout-out at the beginning of your post.
