This fun little fruit platter takes just a few moments to prepare and doesn’t require a lot of fruit. It takes a little preparation and you can use whatever fruit choices you like. Welcome to the blog today, Friends, for some butterfly inspired dishes.

To begin the butterfly fruit platter select a board. I chose a pizza peel with a rounded shape and a long handle. Then cut a butterfly shape from some aluminum foil and lay it on the board.

I used one orange and sliced it into thin slices that I then cut in half. I placed the oranges along the outside of the upper wing of the form and layered them.

Next I cut some strawberries in half and outlined the bottom half of the butterfly. I joined the strawberries and the oranges where the upper and lower wings meet.

Green grapes were halved and formed the body of the butterfly. Thin strips of red grapes form the antennae. Red grapes fill in the bottom set of wings and outline the top set. Green grapes fill in the top wings. A few minutes and you have a beautiful butterfly. You can use this as an appetizer or even a dessert. Pair it with a fruit dip of just eat the chilled fruit on a hot day. It’s very refreshing and really pretty.

Next we have a caprese salad made with Farfalle Pasta which means, “butterfly” pasta. Added to the pasta is a pint of cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and slivered basil.

Cook the pasta according to package directions. Then place it in a large pasta bowl and toss with a bit of olive oil. This prevents it from sticking. I used a lime olive oil to give it a bit of a citrus flavor. Then let the pasta cool completely.

Halve the tomatoes and the balls of Mozzarella and add to the cooled pasta. Mix 1/3 of a cup of olive oil with three tablespoons of white balsamic vinegar. Whisk together well. Slice the basil and add to the pasta. Add one clove of garlic, minced, to the pasta and mix together with the dressing. You can add a little salt and you can also add some additional herbs, if you like. This salad is easy and looks beautiful on the table.

t’s a refreshing and delicious looking salad and it tastes great.

Looks good enough to eat. Enjoy!

  1. What lovely presentations. I bet fixing up fruit like that would make it more tempting for kids to munch on, too! When I make fruit salad, I like to make a dressing of 1/2 mayo/1/2 strawberry (or raspberry) yogurt.
